Read other reviews for laughs, of coarse.
I bought this for the same reason as reviewer Kim: $&&%^! fungus gnats. I started with jade pebbles which are just smurfy, but their size is a bit overwhelming for smaller pots, and I realized that the interstices are too large for this purpose. The first landscape sand I tried was too fine, sub-mm, and was prone to forming a crust and reflecting water. The product I received is visually attractive, even more so than the listing photo. To the reviewer who said their bag âlooksâ like two pounds. What does a pound look like? Do you weigh with your eyes and look with a shipping scale?Rocks by and large are, well, rocks. Not flour. Think about how much water filling the bag would weigh, then multiply by 2.65.Re the cheapness of pea gravel. Sure, if it meets your needs, be they for sharp or for smooth aggregate. Smooth isnât going to have the same drainage dynamics. But you arenât going to get #50 delivered to your doorstep for about tree fitty. And ⦠why on earth are you using a seven gallon planter for oregano? Or is it really âoreganoâ (wiggles eyebrows).Yeah you can go to a store and look for cheaper sand, if you can see through the bag, like waiting in line and dusting up your car, and enjoy tenosynovitis far more than I do. But then, maybe you drive an F950 with an OreGUN sticker.Iâm all good with $27 for #10 of attractive product delivered to my door, a product whose gauge and appearance I know without being Clark Kent. Time is what I have the least of. Also valuable to me is being able to use one product both to amend potting mix and as top dressing. Admittedly my home doesnât say Fleetwood on it, so pea gravel would clash with the aesthetic.Lastly, the person who was concerned about sandstone crumbling: think about it. What is sandstone made out of? When crumbles, do you get â¦. sand? Best of all is the reviewer who expected tiny rocks not sand. What exactly do you think sand *is*???? Hint: it isnât dandruff.

Great for carnivorous plants
This is a great product if you’re looking for an affordable coarse sand mix. The bag is huge and the rocks are small enough to work perfectly with my carnivorous plants . I like to use of course sand with some peat and perlite for my pings and it works great! Definitely a great option if you’re looking to add core san to your soil mixture

Expensive to use for soil drainage in large pots. There are better options.
I grow quite a few veggies and herbs in my basement and am constantly researching the best way to grow them. I grow a couple of varieties of oregano and recently found out they grow naturally in in mountain areas that contain a lot of stone in the soil for drainage. The suggestion was to use 1/3 garden stone mixed with the soil for drainage. So, I found this stone and decided to try it.Honestly 5.7 lbs. of this stone isn’t much when adding it to a 7 gallon pot. When I got this stone, the first thing I did is rinse it to remove dust and residue. This was quite the chore as the rinse water continued to be red. This stone would be good for small pots with cacti or other plants that need drainage and it is attractive, but it doesn’t even make a dent in a 7 gallon pot of soil.I did find out after more research that pea gravel is also an alternative. It may not look as pretty, but when mixed with soil you don’t see it anyway. Another possible option would be course aquarium gravel. Both of these options would be much less expensive and would serve the same purpose. I added a picture of some pea gravel I washed. I think it looks very similar to this silica sand. Pea gravel costs $3.29 for a 50 lb. bag.I hope this review was helpful for you.

Exactly as described and weight was 6lbs sealed well
Well I was cautious when ordering as I bought pumice and it was not was I was thinking it was bag had hole, wasnât washed well. This order on the other hand was perfect over weight and clean even though they stated it may be dusty upon opening. Was decent sized not play/beach sand, large granules with mixed quartz pumice sand stone and occasional granite stones too definitely recommend buying ð

arrived promptly and as described
good clean sand with no salt

Beware of low weight
Weighed 5 lbs precisely on triple beam and postal scales. Including bag. No loose sand in box so doubt any leakage. Certainly not 5.7 pounds.

How do you review small rocks?
Everything was as described and pictured. I will say, the packaging is amazing. Every now and then, you order something that comes in flimsy packaging and contents can spill everywhere. This coarse sand stone was in a heavy duty…I don’t know….burlap sack? On top of that, it was easy to open and pour. Highly recommend
