Prone to splitting and falling apart
I have purchased these and the 2 pound variety for a long time… many seasons. They have always been a good alternative to the suet cages. they attract a wide variety of birds, even our “winter” blue birds. This year I “subscribed”” and my last two shipments were the 1 pound variety, the 2 pound logs no longer available.In the last two batched, shortly after hanging these, the logs broke in half, falling to the ground , leaving the bare plastic holder and the wire by which i hung it from my feeder. My feeder, by the way, is hung suspended from our 2nd story deck so, when the suet log broke into two pieces, it fell about 15 feet.Something seems to be wrong with the mixing formula… the suet is just not holding together OR, the product had gotten knocked around in transit so badly as to develop cracks that make it fall apart easily.I cancelled my subscription and won’t order any more of these. They are now just too expensive to be two “lumps” of suet on the ground, 15 feet below our feeding stations. I am disappointed with C&S, the manufacturer AND with Amazon.

100% happy! Exactly what we needed! Thank you! Many, many birds love this log including Woodpeckers, Orioles, Grosbeak, etc. I love it. Perfect size. So easy to hang. Nice shape for the birds to hang onto. I would purchase this again in the future. I would recommend this product to others.

It wasn’t clear to me when I ordered these that they were really small ones! They are way too small for our woodpecker feeder. They come in a metal post with a hole in too to hang from tree branch, etc…Disappointed in the small size!! Otherwise, good quality….birds really enjoy it.

None⦠I mean NONE of the birds in Southern Indiana will eat this. So I gave it to the squirrels and chipmunks. They wonât touch it either. What a waste of good money.UPDATE: I originally gave this 1 star based on the above review. However, I ran out of my regular suet and this was all that was left and the Birds, Squirrels and Chipmunks DEVOURED it! So if given a choice, this is the last one theyâll touch. But bc each column only lasts a day given all the hoards of birds that eat at my feeder, I wouldnât buy this again. Too pricey.

The birds love this.
I use this year round but especially in winter when food is hard to find for birds. Regardless of temperature this product does not melt. My Cardinals love this. Occasionally a Woodpecker will stop by to sample. The smaller wrens love it too. It makes me happy to see the birds using it. I hang mine on my patio so it does get some shade but it also get sunlight at certain parts of the day. I live in Texas and our summers are brutal so I’m glad to help the birds a little.
