This world class Derby Originals hay net is made from a polyester rope that is extremely resistant to damage from UV rays, or mold and mildew. These hay nets have been tested in wet and damp conditions and have held up strong, with no damage or smell, even when hay was left to completely rot in them. These hay nets are great for those who have to soak their animal’s hay, for all-season use, or use outside in the pasture. This hay net was tied by hand, so the hole size may vary slightly. The average hole size for this net is approx. 2×2”, which is the most commonly used and recommended opening size for slow-feeding the average horse. This size net opening will prevent excess hay wastage, while slowing down your horse’s feeding rate to a more natural, grazing-style pace. This size hay net is rated for use with any type of hay.
PREVENTS HAY WASTAGE – these slow-feed hay nets keep your hay off the ground to reduce waste and prevent spoilage. This results in cleaner hay that is utilized more efficiently, which is beneficial to your horse’s health as well as your wallet!
IMPROVES DIGESTION – our hay nets allow for slow feeding, which mimics natural grazing patterns and is proven to aid the digestive process. Slow feeding is recommended by veterinarians to prevent gastric ulcers and colic.
REDUCES BOREDOM – horses are designed to spend up to 16 hours a day grazing. Slow feeding replicates this natural behavior and keeps your horse occupied longer, which helps to prevent boredom-based bad behaviors such as chewing, cribbing, and pacing.
DURABLE DESIGN – this hay net is made of sturdy poly rope that is designed to be comfortable for your horse to eat from, while still being rip and tear resistant. These hay nets are ideal for daily individual and group feeding, use while trailering, and for soaking hay.
AVAILABLE IN TWO SIZES – this hay net is available in two sizes: 57”, which can hold up to 8-12 flakes of hay, and 90”, which can hold up to a bale and a half of hay. These hay nets are great for group feeding indoors or outdoors.
Customers say

Fits a 3 string, 90lb bale
Perfectly fits a 3 string, ~90lb bale of timothy! With a bit of room to close and tie off. Remains to be seen how it holds up against an overzealous mustang⦠will update my review in a few weeks, hopefully to sing its praises!

Great did its job and held up wonderfully!
. These bags held an entire 90lb bale, we were able to leave the farm for a week (we have one small cow!) it was great and held up nicely. She didnât make a mess and it was great! No holes, very sturdy!

Tried various hay nets this one was the worst
I ordered a different hay bag week that was good quality and was supposed to fit a hay bale, it only fit about 2/3 of the bale. So I ordered this one because of the measurements provided that it goes up to 90 inches long. What they donât tell you is that would be on a bale of hay that is maybe 12 inches wide! This thing is so extremely narrow. I do not recommend it for a bale of hay. If you just want to stuff loose hay into it, that would work. But itâs very narrow and very difficult to work with. It took me 45 minutes of grunting and a few cuts on my hands struggling to get it on a 80 pound bale and it BARELY fit. Now letâs see how long it can handle 2 horses. I got this to save time cleaning up hay scraps but if it takes that long to try and get this over a bale, not worth it!!! Also feels cheap compared to the one I bought last week for same price (different brand- the short one)

Very large hay net
My horse loves this hay net. We have gone through several trying to find one heâd use and this was one of the winners. It is very large, which is great! I tied a knot at the bottom so I could put a little less in it. I could definitely fit a 60# square bale in it, maybe even more. Sadly, it now has two very large holes in it and my horse is back to wasting hay all over his stall (heâs on stall rest ð). I am ordering a different one to replace it, as this only lasted 2 months. Iâve only been using hay nets for 3 months, so idk if my horse is unusually hard on hay nets, or if the net just doesnât last long. Iâd still recommend it to anyone needing an extra large hay net. The one Iâm replacing it with is a little smaller.

Nice hay bale bag but was sent incorrect color for the SECOND time!
This is the second hay bale bag I have purchased from this same supplier and BOTH times I ordered the PURPLE color and got YELLOW instead. The first time months ago, I contacted the buyer and their response was that I had ordered yellow. I do like these hay nets and needed another one so ordered a PURPLE one AGAIN! Ang again I got a YELLOW one. Now perhaps there is a glitch on either Amazon or for the supplier. But even when I look back on my orders it shows I ordered purple. If they don’t have purple any more it should be taken off the site or should show out of stock. Of course now I have 2 yellow ones and I will be travelling out of state. I needed the 2 hay nets to put out for my horse while I will be gone on my trip. They are really nice hay nets and I hang them up in the paddock so I don’t have to take out smaller hay nets every day. They are sturdy and hold a full 2 strand bale very nice and could also do a 3 strand. I tie them up with a horse quick release tie on one end using the cord from the hay net and then use a breakaway clip and velcro to hang the other end up on the fence rail so it is safe and off the ground. It keeps my horse busy and I don’t waste hay by having it all over the ground. I don’t have the time to try and return the newer one now before my trip, so I will just be keeping it. I guess it works to have to yellow matching ones. 🙁 Very nice hay nets that I really like to use but both times I ordered purple!

Good but costs
Ok for the price. I would like it much more if it wasn’t so expensive.

Holds a full bale or a husband
This haynet is adequate for a two-string bale of hay. My bales are approximately 80 lb. I recommend putting the net over the bale while the strings are still on, then cutting/removing the twine after it’s in the bag.
