Customers say
Customers find the e-collar effective for training, particularly for stubborn breeds, and appreciate its ease of use, noting that commands are quickly learned and pairing with the controller is simple. Moreover, the product receives positive feedback for its quality, durability, and effectiveness. However, battery life and size receive mixed reviews – while some say it holds a charge well, others report it stops charging after several months, and while it fits smaller dogs like chihuahuas, it can be too large for smaller breeds. Additionally, opinions on value are divided, with some considering it worth the price while others find it overpriced.

I Love This Collar
So I got the regular one last August after sending my dog to a board and train that uses this product. They encourage to try to get your dog to stop its poor behavior by just using the P button which vibrates the collar with no shock. This is a great feature for dogs who are very responsive to even the slightest things because then you never have to shock them. However, my baby girl is quite stubborn, and without the shock, she doesn’t learn. I started using it for whining in the kennel. She would whine so loud because she wanted to come out and sleep with me. I have a process. I tell her the command QUIET. If she shuts up then no shock. If she continues to whine, I say QUIET once more. After the second command, if the poor behavior continues right away, I say the command again and give her little nicks until she does what is asked of her. If the lower setting of 20 doesn’t work, I slowly increase it until she stops (with bigger dogs I find that 40 is the best if they are not hyper and excited at the moment). I can honestly say that she does not whine in her kennel anymore. It took about a week or two to get her to completely stop, but with consistency and patience and this collar, she learned. Now I use it for other things such as digging, jumping on people, getting off the couch, etc. The command OFF is the most common command for pretty much any bad behavior so she learns that if I say OFF, she is doing something wrong and should stop immediately. I rarely have to even shock her anymore now that she has associated the command with bad behavior. So I recently purchased a second collar and remote. This one has the 2 dog setting so I can use the same remote for two collars. IT WORKS WITH THE OLD COLLAR THAT IS NOT IQ+! I didn’t know that it would also work with my old collar as well, but it was a nice surprise to find out. It’s convenient because I can switch from one collar to the other depending on which dog is misbehaving without the need of a second remote and without it shocking both pups at the same time. I mainly purchased a second one so I can take my dogs on hikes off leash. They usually stay around me and I don’t need the collar, but they love people, dogs, and chasing squirrels, so when we come across them, I have to make sure they don’t dart off to greet or chase. I use the command COME, and the dogs come to me now without the need to shock. I still use the collar just to be safe because I don’t want anything happening to them. If they try to dart for the street, I can shock them back for their own safety when necessary (which is rare).I was initially hesitant of shock collars because of the stigma they have. But this collar is under your control. With other collars without a remote, the dog might just be playing or wrestling and the collar assumes the dog is barking and get shocked for no reason. This collar and remote lets you decide which behaviors to correct, it allows control over how much shock the dog is getting or even just a vibration, and I believe it is completely humane. I have personally put it up to the highest setting and shocked myself because I would never use something like this on my animals without testing it. While it was rather uncomfortable to feel, it was not painful. That was good to discover.I completely recommend this product! I wake up, put the collars on, and usually never use them now…but they are there if I need them. My dogs thankfully have not associated the collar with the shock, so they don’t choose to misbehave only when it is off. I worked hard to make it routine for them to always wear the collar so this association was never made.Hope this helps!!

Great Product, Actually Works!
This is the third Dogtra training collar that I have purchased. I love their products, and they actually work very well. I always have a leash, but it is great to be able to allow my dog off leash, when conditions allow. My dog is four years old and wears the collar every time we go out. He is so well trained, that he almost never requires correction.

Best Dog Training Collar
Just an update. I have now had this for almost 3 years. It still works as well as the day I bought it!!!My original review:This is an excellent product that is very well made and exceeded my expectations. It was recommended by the trainer who is helping us train our 10 month old German Shepherd. Our dog is very smart but very fast and when I would let her off leash it was difficult to get her to come back. She has taken off after deer and she is gone and out of sight within seconds. With the IQ trainer set very low, it only took 2 uses of the “stim” for a couple of seconds each time to get her to turn around and start heading back to me when I called her. The way I have used it is that i give the command “come” only once. If she does not start back towards me immediately I hold down the “constant” button. As soon as she turns and starts heading back, I stop with the stim and praise her when she is back at my feet and sits.I had previously owned a different brand of e-collar. It was poorly constructed, the handheld and the collar never stayed in sync, and the batteries wore down very quickly. The Dogtra IQ is made much better. It charges quickly and has not required a re-charge yet. I like how the collar turns “on” and “off” by a simple method of holding the remote and the collar together so that the affixed red dots touch. The light on the collar gives you instant feedback as to whether the collar is “on” or “off”

Good reliable product with appropriate e collar range for a dog
Works well. Has good range of charge that is appropriate for a dog. My reason for 4 stars is that the collar does not stay charged long enough in my opinion – about 1.5 days. The remote clicker stays charged at least 3-4 days. Make sure you don’t leave the collar chanrging overnight. It will ruin it. Usually the collar is recharged in 2-3 hours. The minute the light turns green, unplug it from the charger. The clicker takes only 30-60 minutes to recharge.

Excellent product. I have a new dog. Had a problem with pairing – solved over the phone with Dogtra
My dog is a Norwegian Elkhound. This breed is renowned for its hunting abilities, stubbornness, independence, and inability to respond to the command “come.” We live on the edge of a large swatch of BLM land. With the collar and several weeks of training, now I can take him for a daily 4-6 mile walk off-leash, and keep him in sight. Doing so was was impossible before without him disappearing routinely for an hour or longer on just about every walk, somewhere well beyond sight. The collar and remote are robust, well built, and well designed. This is a quality system worth the price tag. Would definitely buy again.Update 7 months later: Excellent product with great range. Then it suddenly stopped working. For a few days the units worked intermittently before failing completely. Dogtra customer service diagnosed the problem over the phone, which was inadvertent and accidental pairing. Keep the transmitter and receiver apart except when charging them. Dogtra customer support was excellent. Call them first before returning for repair if this happens to you.

Works well, it can be a strong buzz for little pups when you use the nick or constant, so be sure to test on yourself to get a sense for what the receiver is putting out at each level. Battery life seems decent. I’ve liked the dogtra collars for my larger dogs, so figured they would be good for smaller as well. I’m happy with the purchase.

Très bon produit. Je suis vraiment content de mon achat qui me sert plus, maintenant de leurre mais qui m’a permis de dresser très rapidement mon chien avec.

We worked with a dog trainer for some tips for our wonderful but sometimes extremely stubborn pup and he suggested that the Dogtra IQ plus was the ONLY way to go for a training collar. We thought it would be too small for our big dogs (staffy / pitbull x) but he promised it would be great and is so much less bulky than a lot of other remote collars. We have never gone past level 40 (nick only) and we literally do not even need a leash any longer. Its amazing. Honestly, we probably don’t really even need it any more because after using it only a few times, our dogs walk beside us (when we ask them to) and do not even approach other dogs (unless we let them/tell them to go ahead). Same with barking in the yard. One of them insisted on barking constantly just at neighbours doing yard work, so we used it on her maybe twice and now if she barks and we call her, she stops immediately. We didn’t think we would ever use one but as a last resort for a couple of stubborn issues where nothing else we tried worked, and we are now so happy we did because we tried it on ourselves first and so we know we are not hurting them and it just worked so well. We really read up on them and discussed at length with a trainer before using…which I would implore anyone to do so as not to misuse and harm your pup.

Additional collar for an excellent mid priced system.

He usado pocas veces el e-collar pero siempre me ha gustado la respuesta y lo versátil del mismo. Es un equipo pequeño y hasta ahora es suficiente para lo que he hecho, espero que en el futuro con más demanda se comporte a la altura.
