Customers say
Customers find the terrarium soil to be of good quality and appreciate its size, with one mentioning it’s perfect for a typical 10-gallon tank. The soil’s moisture retention and functionality receive mixed feedback – while some say it holds moisture well and works great for crested gecko cages, others report it never absorbs water and consider it useless. Moreover, the product’s durability is mixed, with customers noting it’s hard as a brick and takes days to break apart in water.

Lots of soil in a brick.
This is good soil and there is a lot of it per brick. It really expands. It’s good to store, compact and dry. Overall useful.Though, it is pretty difficult to break up. I spent over an hour breaking it up, so I imagine you could get around that by soaking it for several hours before messing with it. Still, the brick is pretty dense. It worked for my purposes but it takes some work to prepare.

Iâll Not Buy Any Other. Very Happy.
My Brazilian Rainbow Boa loves this. When she was little, she especially loved tunneling down into it. I recommend a good 3or 4 inches of depth at least or more if tunneling. It really holds moisture and helps to keep the humidity high enough for her. Itâs easily transferable, so be mindful when taking things out of the tank, as it will get on you and the floor. But itâs great value as you can scoop out waste and it stay pretty clean. If it gets too dry you can always revive it with water. I mix some with Forest Floor for my Python and although he doesnât need high humidity, he does need some & this works very well. Iâve tried other brands and gotten springtails each time. (Makes me itchy just remembering) so Iâm not doing that again. This is clean and inexpensive and lasts and lasts. Very happy.

Bad Batch
Do not but soil from this seller. Bought five of these and none of them soaked up any water even after a few days submerged. Was only able to get a refund for 1 out of the defective 5. Waste of money

Plan for more than 30 minutes…
I bought this for a snail terrarium and watched lots of videos on online of people using this product and I think overall my experience was a lot different. All the videos I watched people just put it in water and it started to expand…and thatâs exactly what the instructions say to do, just put the block in water and in 30 minutes it will expand. But my block did not expand within 30 minutes so I started to poke at it and then an hour passed and nothing. So I literally had to shred the block with scissors and continuously pour water directly onto it and here I am 2 hours in with just about 1/3 of the block turned into usable soil. The soil is just fine but the instructions made it seem so simple… so just something to note, plan for more than 30 minutes

It’s very good coco soil. Not too stringy like I was afraid it might be. My rats had no issues with it. I was pleasantly surprised at the quantity it gave once it fully absorbed the water. I couldn’t even make it fit in my biggest tupperware I had.I’d say it gives about the same of a 8.8l sac of dirt. Which is plenty. I did notice the price went from 8$cad to 12.58$cad but for the quantity it gives and the quality I’m not complaining.

I use this for my Giant African Land Snails and to repot my various types of houseplant. Absolutely brilliant, if you put peas in the soil they will grow in the tank for your snails too. Of course, don’t put other types of plant in their tank. Stays clean, very absorbent and the snails love it. The brick makes a fair but once it’s made you can dry it or leave it in a pot and use as needed. As for my plants, they all grow well. I have a ginseng tree, a monstera, and two citrus trees in this soil and they’re all healthy. If you use it for houseplants it will require nutrients added. Do not add plant nutrients to a snail/pet tank.
