I bought these to take my son fishing. They work great. Everything you need except bait! The telescope feature makes them sure easy to store. Highly recommend!

nice beginner or back up rod and reel
this fishing pole set is advertised for the “Beginner Angler” and with this in mind here is my review.1. let’s start with the reel. The reel is a nice beginner spinning reel. It has the nice feature of a folding handle with just a push of a button, it has smooth action and the bail is designed to be manually opened and closed in contrast to higher end where it will flip over automatically when you reel. You can change it from a right hand to a left hand reel by unscrewing the knob on the opposite side of the reel removing the handle and reinstalling it on the other side of the reel. the drag is set on the front of the spool like most spinning reels. over all this is a good reel for the beginner fisherman2. next the pole. the pole is a telescopic pole that folds down to a small convenient size to pack, and store. makes it really nice to carry in your car, bike or back pack with out fear of breaking the tip. The action on the pole is good the tip is fast enough to make long casts even with 1/8oz weights. the rod itself i’m guessing would be considered medium it is firm but has a good arch when under a load such as fighting a fish. The main thing I didn’t like about the pole was the handle was way to short only 4″ past the reel in my opinion it should be a min of 8″ even for a beginner’s pole and of course a cork handle would have been much better than the composite type handle but the handle material is more of a matter of cost and preference. the reel seat holds the reel solid with out any movement. But besides the handle length the pole is a good pole of good quality for a beginner pole3. extra accessories have the line included is appreciated and the line weight seemed appropriate for the pole/ reel combo not to thick or thin. the other gear the gripper, pliers and fishing lures are entry level gear which again is appropriate for the beginner fisherman.Conclusion: for a beginner level fishing set or for that matter as a back up set to carry around in the car or take with you incase your main pole or reel breaks, This is a good combo fishing rod and reel set. I only gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because the handle on the pole is a little shorter than it should be but other wise not a bad set and worth the price for a 2 pole set
