Fluval Bug Bites is a complete fish food that features a unique insect-based formulation, enriched with multiple quality proteins and carbohydrates that are ideal for tropical fish such as bettas, goldfish, cichlids, guppies, and tetras. Bug Bites’ daily diet color enhancing formula contains a significant amount of shrimp (a source of astaxanthin), which boosts the natural pigmentation in tropical fish. Insects are hunted by fish in the wild as they offer a widely available food source. The instinctive feeding habit is the foundation behind Bug Bites, which are formulated with nutrient-rich insect larvae and enriched with multiple quality proteins, vitamins, minerals and trace elements. Most freshwater fish are omnivores and regularly feed on insects in the wild. However, not all insects are created equally when it comes to a fish’s diet. Bug Bites are formulated with sustainably harvested Black Soldier Fly Larvae (#1 ingredient across all formulas), which are raised on fruits and vegetables for exceptional “super food” nutrition. Using a unique cultivation process, BSFL are grown under controlled conditions for total sustainability that preserves natural environments. Under controlled conditions, Black Soldier Flies produce larvae, which naturally feed on decaying organic matter. Unconsumed fruits and vegetables are used as larvae feed. The larvae consume the feed, converting the nutrients into protein and healthy fat. After a 2-week feeding cycle, the larvae are harvested and dried. The dried larvae are mixed with other high-quality proteins, vitamins, minerals and trace elements to offer a complete and balanced daily diet. In addition to BSFL, Bug Bites offer other excellent protein sources such as Herring & Shrimp Meal, which are also rich in Omega-3 for healthy skin, scales, fins and colors. Unlike big brand fish foods, Bug Bites are always prepared in small batches for superior control and quality assurance. The proximity of our ingredients (most of which are delivered right before production) also offers maximum freshness, which translates into better palatability.

My Fish are Now Spoiled
I have a 32G Fluval Flex Aquarium and have been feeding my beautiful fish mostly Omega One Freshwater Flakes which has been fine. I was at a trade show and someone recommended the Fluval Bug Bites. Good for small (not too small) to medium size size. The small granules float in the water then sink and the fish swarm for the bug bites pretty much ignoring the flakes.

Very large pellets
These are much larger than all of the other cory pellets I’ve used. Two to three times as big at least. Not a terrible thing but I’ll likely have to break them up to make it easier to spread around. Only used it once so far but my cories all seemed to like it.

Great for all type of tropical fish
I feed these little pebble like grains to everything from Harlequin Rasboras to my Flowerhorn. They seem to like it and it seems to keep them healthy. Of course it’s not the only thing they eat but it’s part of their daily diet. I’ve been using it for a few years and it has been a good value with good ingredients. Highly recommended.

My fish can’t eat these bug bites fast enough. They seem to like them a lot!

Fish love it!
My knight gobies love it. I bought the larger size pellet as they have large mouths to body size. And it has good sources of protein that rapidly brings them out of their hiding spots. And it is a good value due to the size of the package…much less expensive per ounce than in local fish stores. I keep some out for short term use and put the rest in vaccum seal bags in my freezer to prevent loss of vitamins/nutrients.

I make the mistake every time
The stuff smells like fish to high heaven. Make sure that you want sinking because thatâs what it does. It stinks as soon as it hits the water. I keep getting the wrong food as I want flakes in the bulk bag, but I always end up with these pellets.

The fish seem to like these but they nearly always sink almost instantly (even though theyâre not for bottom feeders). Also my apisto macmasteri seemed to get some caught in its mouth for a while on 2 or 3 occasions, and it looked like the beginning of lockjaw at first but it seems to have been caused just by the bigger chunks of this food. (Could be wrong tho) I think because the pieces are quite sharp with lots of corners and they are also dense so they donât dissolve and get soft until longer than youâd expect. All in all it seems good but maybe crush the pieces a little bit before feeding

Takes a long time for the fish (gourami / cory) before they eat this food.. Aquarium smells after adding the food.
