Customers say
Customers find the training collar effective, particularly for Dutch/German Shepherds, and appreciate its ease of use with understandable controls. The device is durable in wet and dry weather, with a neat little light feature that’s especially useful for walks at night. While some customers consider it worth the price, others find it overpriced, and battery life receives mixed reviews – some report great battery life while others mention it needs recharging every three to four days. Customers report their dogs respond well to the collar, with one noting significant improvements in behavior within two weeks.

Great for the training and off-leash
Garmin have always been top-notch products and this collar is no different. I have a GSP and this collar was much better than one of the cheaper options I had previously purchased on Amazon (it quit working after 6 months). This still works great and holds a long charge. It’s super easy to use. My only comment would be that I wish the beep was louder like some of the experience collars that are used for hunting. Still, a great option that is less expensive than the premium models.

Remarkably versatile training device for your best friend
The three different alerts, Tone, then Vibe, then Shock are helpful. Using them in this order as you and your dog learn about the collar becomes intuitive and recognizable to the dog after only a short while. (7 to 14 days). My dog takes note of the tone and listens to audible commands. The vibe mode almost always causes him to return to me should the Tone not do so. And for those rare instances where tone and vibe do not get his attention, usually when another dog approaches, then the shock and an audible COME command will bring him back to my side. The variable intensity settings are helpful, 1 – 10. My dog responds well at setting 2. The light is also a great feature when walking evening or early morning. The collar should fit snug. Two fingers should fit very snugly under the collar. He should breathe and drink without restriction. And frequent swimming in a pond or the ocean has not affected the collar, and commands work as expected. My best friend is a 105 lb German Shepherd/Wolf hybrid and he does extremely well with the use of this collar. I can count on him to act appropriately even among multiple animals at the dog park. Get yourself a neck lanyard and take your dog anywhere, almost hands free. This is a wonderful collar training device!!

Best Product
I waited 2 months to write this review to allow sufficent people time using this product. We have an almost 2yo lab. He is the best family dog ever but just has a ton of puppy energy. I have worked with him on training since we got him at 3months old. He knew all the basic commands and was reliable inside the house. The second we were outside all bets were off. He was generally well behaved but we drastically struggled with recall. I could not ever trust he would come when called and he would run off to other pets/people to play.I researched a lot of ecollars and how to use them/train with them. This ecollar has been the absolute best purchase ever. It took about 2 weeks and he was fully trained with recall. I trained him so that now he listens to us verbally and if he doesnât, I use the beep function and he immediately comes. He will not run out of our yard without us(no fence) and he checks in often.Having an off leash dog is the best. He is so different using this collar. Just putting it on, itâs likeImmediate obedience with all commands he already knew. So far no batter issues, definitely easy to use.Make sure your dog is strong with your commands before trying to train on the ecollar. This was supplemental to what he already knew and just took his training up a notch.

Life Changer
A really fantastic product. Solid and well built with a charge that lasts about 2 days if left on the dog 24 hours. It has an audible, a vibration function and of course the shock function. Train using voice commands with the beep. If no response from the animal, use the vibration, then shock as a last resort. After 3 or 4 naughty events, the audible tone is usually all that is needed to keep him out of the garbage or wandering off past the hedge. This thing has reduced the stress level in the house and works much better then other shock collars I’ve tried with a longer range, to boot.Remember, it is only as good as you are willing to use it. It is not cruel, or inhumane, or abusive (as I have read in other posts) to correct a dog to prevent him from running into traffic, wandering off the property only to eat something they shouldn’t, or to get into dog fights, or worse yet, if it bites someone and now you need to put him down. Done right, you should hardly ever have to use the shock function but if even that bothers you in the slightest, have fun when your pooch destroys your home and eats your $500 eyewear or costs you $2,000 in xrays and stomach pumping fees. Feel proud, you just saved the canine world as you gave up on an uncontrollable dog for adoption.

Bought this collar to help teach my dog recall. She’s a stubborn hound who is a rescue and didn’t get trained recall as a puppy, so she catches a scent and takes off in the bush. The product is expensive, but I trust Garmin products and I didn’t want to buy something cheap that would accidentally hurt my dog.Love the dial on the remote because I don’t have to mess with buttons to set it to the level I need, and when you have a fast dog, that’s a great time-saver. Levels 1-3 are a tickle, and 4-5 don’t hurt, but are just a little jolt to get your attention. I tried level 6 on myself too and it doesn’t hurt a lot, but it’s definitely unpleasant and I won’t be using past that level and really only will ever use it if my dog is in danger. We only used it on e because my dog ran off in the bush and was in the road. Stopped her in her tracks and she came running back though, so it works. For dogs that have thicker skin (or skulls) the higher levels would probably be useful. Also love the tone feature! She has learned that with the tone, it’s time to come and I don’t have to use the vibrate or shock on her at all anymore. It’s also good in a bit of water if your dog accidentally falls in the water, but it isn’t meant for swimming.Really impressed with this product! I’m glad I dished out the money for it.

The sport pro are fairly expensive but they really are full featured an the always work. Another thing is their long battery life I can go 3+ days before charging the collars and at least a week for the remote. My dogs respond very well to tone and vibe. I trained them tone is come and tone is stop what your doing but no need to come. Static is not used often and only when needed primarily for safety concerns. I use two collars and switching between the two is easy with no need to look at the remote.

Luckily haven’t had to test the range as my boy has stayed close, but we’ve trained his recall to include the vibration on the collar which is a helpful feature when they’re running in the woods and you don’t want to be yelling. The little headlights are handy. The only downside I believe is when you don’t realize the toggle on the top has been hit and is now on a different collar setting, meaning that if you need to use your collar your dog won’t be getting any feedback whatsoever.Overall a good product, only comparison I can make is to a Dogtra collar my parents dog has, it most certainly has better features the only physical difference is the Garmin is a bigger device on the dog – but could be from a better battery(ies)?

I really like the size and weight of the collar…so nice and light. Would have liked the tone to be a bit louder.

As with all Garmin Products you get what you pay for. This set up has great value and functional operation. It is tough and resilient, effective scalability and great battery life!
