Fantastic for breeding and brooding shrimp — but less is more.
Alright, shrimp whisperers, prepare yourselves for a rollicking review of GlasGarten Bacter AE Shrimp Tank Treatment (35g)—the microbial magic dust that’s got my tank buzzing with happy crustaceans and biofilm buffets. This stuff is like a secret handshake for your shrimp, coaxing them out of their hidey-holes with a promise of gourmet goodness. Mix it, pour it, and watch it work its cloudy wizardry—but beware, this is a potion to wield with finesse, not a free-for-all. Let’s dive in with some humor and a hearty shrimp salute!First off, the quality of Bacter AE is pure shrimp sorcery. Packed with beneficial bacteria and enzymes, it’s like a probiotic party in a 35g jar—think of it as yogurt for your tank, but way cooler. I scoop a teensy bit (we’re talking “pinch of fairy dust” levels), mix it into some water, and unleash the cloudy chaos into my aquarium. That milky haze doesn’t just float around looking pretty—it’s a homing beacon, snaking its way into every mossy nook, cranny, and shrimp-sized speakeasy where my little buddies lurk. Within hours, my baby shrimp are popping out like they’ve RSVP’d to a biofilm feast, nibbling away at the invisible buffet this stuff cultivates. It’s like I’ve hired a Michelin-star chef for my tank, and the dress code is claws and antennae. The distribution? Absolute genius. That cloudy mix doesn’t clump or sink like a lazy rock—it dances through the water column, finding every hiding spot from the filter shadows to the driftwood penthouse. My shrimp colony—usually a bunch of reclusive introverts—turns into a social club, grazing on the biofilm that sprouts up like a microbial lawn. Their shells are shinier, their hustle’s stronger, and I swear one of them winked at me through the glass. This isn’t just food; it’s a lifestyle upgrade for biofilm feeders, and my shrimp are living their best lives. Now, a word of caution, because this is where the comedy turns to a gentle PSA: Bacter AE is potent, folks—like a double espresso shot for your tank. The instructions might tempt you to go ham and dump in a heap, but resist the urge! Overuse this bad boy, and you’ll turn your pristine aquarium into a bacterial soup thicker than a fog machine at a disco. Dose it lightly—think once or twice a week, tailored to your tank size and shrimp squad numbers. I’ve got a 10-gallon with a modest crew, so a smidge does the trick; if you’ve got a shrimp metropolis in a 50-gallon, adjust accordingly. Too much, and you’re not feeding biofilm, you’re growing a science experiment—trust me, your shrimp don’t need that kind of drama. In conclusion, GlasGarten Bacter AE Shrimp Tank Treatment (35g) is a high-quality, shrimp-approved marvel that delivers microbial munchies right to your colony’s secret lairs. It’s engagingly effective, hilariously easy to use, and turns your tank into a biofilm bonanza—just don’t get cocky with the scoop. Used sparingly, it’s a weekly treat that keeps your shrimp shimmying and your water happy. Five stars, two claws up, and a cheeky “less is more, shrimp lords!” from me!

    Great stuff!
Use as an aid for creating biofilm and food source for my neocaradina shrimp. I mix 1/8 of a tsp along with 1/8 tsp of Shrimpfit + in a 1 oz. squeeze bottle of tank water. I also may add some spirulina powder. Both of my shrimp tanks have the same water parameters. I give each tank a squirt every 2 days … approx 1/2 tsp. They love it! My baby shrimps appeared about 3 + weeks ago. Guessing they are 4 to 5 weeks old and are half the size of adults already. Haven’t lost a single one! They do get other foods, but seem to go for this as soon as it starts spreading around the tanks. Afterwards they gather on the sponge filters to clean those up too. The shrimp, snails, and octocinculus all love this stuff and the biofilm that is a staple.

    Watch your dosage
Excellent product. Use an air stone tho, and they say use an amount the size of a grain of rice per 2.5 gallons. I read if you overdose, the bacterias can consume all the oxygen and suffocate your inverts. I feel like more ppl need to know about that, I read a ton and was using this for months before I learned that.

Great food, but causes surface film
This food is great for shrimp, mine go bonkers whenever I add it! Only downside is that if you don’t have a surface skimmer, it can cause some pretty brutal surface build up that can cause problems. If there’s a thick surface film then you won’t get the oxygen exchange that your tank needs and it can suffocate your live stock. Definitely pre mix with water and use a turkey baster or something to add it to the tank otherwise a lot of it just floats on the surface contributing to the surface film. I might feed this a few times if I see little shrimplets running around, but I’ll probably stick to hard foods since I don’t have a skimmer and it started to cause problems after a few days of use, and yes I was using the correct dose, probably even way less than the correct dose. The dose on the back is for a super large tank, so I was doing the smallest pinch because I have a 5 gallon tank and it still caused a few problems. If I can figure out a way to get some surface skimming action, I’ll start using it more regularly.

    Good product
The products worked well I continue to use it. I think my shrimp are healthier because of it now. I do wish that I had a conversion chart for smaller shrimp owners or, a different way to do the scoop to measure those amounts so you don’t over use it.

Love this stuff. I use it in my nerite snail tank and they’ve become far more active since I’ve been putting it in, and their shells are beautifully formed with no pits from calcium deficiency. Great product!!
