Good quality moss – looks vibrant and not dead.
This moss is very easy to use and there is actually a couple of ways to do it. It comes sealed up and compressed, which is good for shipping costs I suppose. It is very natural looking while not looking dead. Often you get moss that is all brown. Not the case here, this is as it shows in their pictures. A nice, lush moss. It spreads out pretty well and if you are doing just a top layer on something the small bag would likely suffice. The moss leaves your project smelling like a rainforest. Which is nice for me since I keep geckos in a terrarium. If you are using this sparingly, the best way I’ve found to get the most coverage without going really deep is to actually pull some of the moss from the bag in a thinner amount, hold it in the palm of your hand, and mist it with a spray bottle lightly, but all over. Then squeeze the moss lightly to drain any overly excessive water, and have the moss soak up even more of the water still in it. If you’re in a hurry, you can start pulling away at the (now loose) moss and create your light layer. If you aren’t in a hurry, leave it out for a short break (like 30 minutes) and when you come back it will be much looser, lightly damp, and easy to see what your actual project will look like as you place it. I’m impressed with this moss.

Some nice moss, expands to a lot!
My first impression of this moss brick was that you don’t get a whole lot. See the pictures — I added 40oz of water which it soaked up and blew up! And that’s not even fluffed up or picked apart yet! So you do get a lot. Decent value although that’s always subjective. Easy to expand just add water and if you use warm or hot water it expands quicker. No bad smells just natural smells. Not too much sticks and forest floor crap which I know some people don’t like. Personally I love it. Very soft moss. Nothing about this moss makes me hesitate to put it in my tropical Boa enclosures. I will bake it like I do everything just to make sure there’s no hitch hikers like the dreaded mites.

Expands A LOT!
I ordered this to use as soil cover for indoor plants, but I think this stuff could have lots of uses for arts and crafts etc.The first thing I noticed when I opened the package was the smell (not a bad thing just very foresty)! It is also a very densely packed brick, in the photos you can see how much the small corner I broke off fluffed up when water was added. I am sure that the whole pack would make way more than I ever need.I was a little disappointed about how much brown/dead, twigs and debris was mixed in, I picked out the best stuff and as you can see from the photos there was a lot of not usable stuff leftover.So good points: price, volume, versatility, smell?Bad points: quality, color

This moss smells earthy and is a great value! Perfect for potted plants!
I love using moss on top of my potted plants–it’s such a nicer, cozier look than plain old soil. So when I came across this Halatool moss, I was excited to order it. It arrived as a dense block but it expands quite a bit (my amount about doubled in size) when you add some water to it (be sure to pull off only a bit and add water to that, unless you need *a lot* of this moss at once). There are some twigs in the moss but that doesn’t bother me at all, since it all looks natural and lends itself to an elevated boho vibe. I also love the smell of this moss–it’s earthy. (I love the smell of soil too.) It looks great on my plants!I’m very happy with this order and would order it again. I think it’s a great value too. I recommend it!

Expands a lot with water
This review is for “Halatool 12QT Small Animals Bedding & Nesting Material, Forest Moss for Odor Control Rabbits Squirrels Hamsters Guinea Pigs, Soft & Safe for Small Animals Cages Terrariums Reptiles Plants”It looks small and compact when you get it, but once you put it in a large container and add water, It will EXPAND. The product seems like a good quality and a good value compared to others I had purchased in the past. I use the moss to cover the top of my house plant in large pots and for decorating mainly.

Mostly brown not green
I got this moss for crafts and plants because it looked very green in the pictures (and you get a lot for the price).However in person it is like 80-90% brown with only a few green pieces. If i wanted just dried brown moss, it is cheaper to get from a garden store.Dont get this moss if you are looking for nice green moss.

The Warehouse Mice Appear To Have Loved It.
I guess the mice at the warehouse liked this pack of moss because it came pre-opened and pre-chewed. I am not sure I am comfortable putting this in my hamsterâs cage because of the possible diseases those rodents could have left on the moss. If the pack had arrived undamaged, I would think it is good quality. The moss feels soft, and it would have been a great bedding for my hamster.

Good size after water absorbed and quality is decent!
It’s a small package and I don’t think that will fulfill my requirement but after adding about 32oz water and the size of this moss turns like 10 times bigger. The quality is also better than I expected, some small tree or grass debris but not many, all I can pick is about 10~15 pieces.The moss is mix with some brown and green color, it looks actually more beautiful than all brown color for me. Also, the smell of moss is good, feels fresh and clean, good stuff.
