Natural Coco Husk: The reptile substrate is made from coco coir husk, which is 100% natural, low EC value, dust-free and no odors. Compressed to bricks to less the volume, so it easy to store. When soak it to the water, it expands a lot.
Holds Water Well: Our coconut chip substrate is a nice, small size for reptile tank and soaks up to a very spongey, water retaining medium. Excellent and economical choice for snake substrate
First, make sure you do your research for what types of snake and other reptiles this type of substrate is ok for. (For example, it’s not suitable for “borrowing” species.)This stuff comes tightly vacuum sealed and packed, so it will take some soaking and breaking apart before it’s useable. I use about half of the product for a 75 gallon aquarium for an adult ball python. That much usually lasts me about 6 months because for cleaning I usually just remove handfuls of soiled substrate each month (I feed the python one very large rat each month, so that’s about how often I need to clean up, too.)This stuff does get dusty when it dries out, so be aware of that. I’d recommend for tropical reptiles to get a misting type of set up, which will keep the dust to a minimum.Be a bit cautious with how much and how often you mist the enclosure. When I first set it up, I did too much, and, as with too much moisture anywhere, I did get some mold on the substrate. That was mostly my fault, though, for overdoing it. Since I’ve dialed back how often it mists, I have not noticed mold, but the humidity level of the enclosure has stayed fairly high for the tropical ball python.I’ve never had any problems with this substrate; I recommend it for its value and relatively ease of use.

Purchased as substrate for my African Leopard Tortoise. Pieces are large enough so he won’t eat hem, with enough small “fluff” to provide good coverage on bottom of terrarium. Substrate comes in a brick form that you need to soak with water to expand.Only odd thing is there is no instructions on how much water to add. I added to much and ended up having to mop up from the bottom of the terrarium. Because of adding too much water it stayed wet for a day or two, but is now dry and looks natural!

Use it all the time
It was ok we buy this a lot for our snakes. It keeps humidity & what not as it should but Iâm not sure if they change the product or we just got like a bad ish batch this time.. itâs usually more of chips & works great this time itâs like dirt literally. But still works just as good & I will honestly still continue to buy it either way.. we use about 3 bricks in a 40 gallon terrarium so Iâd say it definitely makes a lot off of just one brick!
