Tell pesky parasites to ‘bug off’ with the Hartz UltraGuard Plus Reflective Flea & Tick Collar for Cats and Kittens. This parasite pummeling collar kills and repels both fleas and ticks for 7 months and also exterminates and prevents flea eggs from hatching for over half the year – stopping the flea life cycle and inhibiting reinfestation. The water resistant design remains effective even after getting caught in the rain. Additionally, the Reflect-X Shield reflects direct light for up to 450 feet for an added dimension of nighttime safety. Also features a breakaway safety release. For continuous flea and tick protection from head to tail, replace the collar every 7 months. For use on kittens 12 weeks of age and older.

Directions: Remove collar from package, unroll and stretch to activate insecticide generator. Do not use on kittens under 12 weeks of age. Do not unroll collar until ready to use. Place the collar around the cat’s neck, adjust for proper fit and buckle in place. The collar must be worn loosely to allow for growth of the cat and to permit the collar to move about the neck. Generally, a properly fitted collar is one that, when fastened, will snugly slide over the cat’s head. Leave 2 or 3 inches on the collar for extra adjustment and cut off and dispose of the extra length. Consult a veterinarian before using this product on debilitated, aged or medicated pets. Sensitivity may occur after using any pesticide product for pets. Some animals may become irritated by the collar if it is applied too tightly. If this occurs, loosen the collar. If irritation continues, remove the collar and bathe your cat with mild soap and rinse with large amount of water. If signs continue, consult a veterinarian immediately. Do not use this product on cats simultaneously or within 30 days before or after treatment of other flea and tick products. However, flea and tick collars may be replaced immediately.

These Hartz pet Flea & Tick collars REALLY WORK! For MONTHS! They make them for cats AND dogs
I have been using Hartz flea collars for many decades! (I know, shows my age!) They have ALWAY worked. Make sure you follow the directions – you MUST STRETCH them BEFORE you put them on your pet, to activate the medicine. Then smell it & you should smell the medicine. It isn’t strong enough to bother the pet, or their master. We live across the street from a large State Park, & it is loaded with deer, thus it is loaded with ticks. And these deer come into my yard all the time. One time I bought expensive flea & tick medicine from my vet – & it cost $50 PER PET. And guess what? It did not work very well at all – my husband had to pull ticks off my cats, and my dogs. No more! I’m not pulling ticks. They NEVER get fleas or ticks wearing these collars. I only buy Hartz – they have ALWAYS worked for me!

Collar is Amazing. Following the directions keeps you and your cat safe.
This collar is amazing. My cat at 6 months old had a very bad flea infestation and I tried this collar on him and it worked amazingly.I highly recommend giving your cat a very good bath before applying the collar to kill a large bulk of fleas on them, or getting a professional one. I paid about 80$ at petco for my cat to get a flea bath and it took about 2 hours however that saved me much more money than spending months of fighting fleas with many expensive products. If you want to do it at home, look up some tutorials because some of them teach you what to do in order to prevent fleas from retreating to your cats face during a bath.In order to prevent chemical burns, wash your hands after taking the collar out of the packaging and stretching it to activate it. Brand new collars are when the chemicals are at its strongest. When first putting it onto your cat, you can either set it aside for about 3 days after activating the collar to put it on your cat in case they have sensitivities.Or, you can put it on right away but keep it Very loose. For the first few days I made sure I could fit 4-5 fingers underneath the collar while it was on my cat. This would make sure that the close contact with his skin wouldn’t irritate him while the chemical was at its strongest. Over the span of a week i tightened it to to fit about 3 fingers. He was still growing at the time so I left room for him to grow into a bit. It was loose enough to comfortably slip the collar on and off over his head.Since his flea infestation was so bad I left the excess of collar on him for the first 2 months especially since I would need to adjust it later. It’s not a bad idea to cut the excess off and put it into your vacuum bag for killing fleas around the place. My apartment is about 80% carpet and there are many fabrics and blankets for fleas to hide in. This killed and repelled fleas perfectly. The reason for fleas still persisting for other reviewers is because you also have to vacuum and wash every fabric, blanket, sheet, bedding, and clothes that you have. You also have to get other products that are meant to kill fleas in the environment.I purchased a powder to sprinkle on carpet and leave to dwell for a few hours and vacuum up and I did that once a week for about 3 weeks before we were flea free. I moved every piece of furniture to make sure everything was coated and this has left my apartment and my cat flea free for over 6 months. He has had no itching or irritation around his neck from this collar. The instructions advise against using this on kittens, elderly, and medicated cats.During flea season I used flea meds with this collar to prevent later on infestation. I only did this once the collar was on for 4 months. It would interact less and I made sure the collar was off for about 5 days after applying the meds. He has been perfectly fine all this time and no vets have advised against it or seen anything wrong with him.You and your cat will be perfectly fine as long as you closely follow instructions and keep an eye on it for the first month. Fleas will be gone with this collar AND other steps taken to kill and prevent fleas within the home. It takes a lot of work and time and money to get rid of fleas and its very tedious but this was one of the best things to help get rid of fleas. Bowls of soap and water did not catch a single flea compared to this. Also recommend getting a cat deworming med after the fleas are gone. Cats can get fecal tapeworms from ingesting a flea and since they are self groomers theres an extremely high chance they will. My cat did. There are some decently priced ones here on amazon where i got mine and it worked after the first dose.

    Assumed OK
No fleas after three months, but maybe no flea exposure. No control group comparison.

    Does not work at all!
Very simply, this absolutely unequivocally does NOT work in any capacity. I’m grateful that my cat didn’t have a horrible reaction like some of the other reviewers and my heart truly goes out to them. I tried several natural less toxic things to try and kill my cats fleas and nothing worked. I sprayed my house, vacuumed, washed everything repeatedly daily. I tried several flea baths. Even using Dawn. I first tried the liquid topical once a month flea killer sold on Amazon. Nothing worked. Out of desperation I bought this collar. Again, it did nothing. The only thing that really seemed effective in removing the live fleas was using a flea comb. But there were so many on her that it was never enough. I finally took my cat to the vet because she was miserable. The first thing my vet did was to remove this collar and said, “I always tell patients that these collars do nothing. If you are lucky a couple of fleas might crawl under the collar and eventually die but it does nothing for any other area of the cats body”.Still vacuuming and treating my house. This is what seems to work so far the best though we aren’t out of the woods yet. Unfortunately some of these are prescription only :Revolution Plus – not only kills fleas and ticks but also treats ear mites, roundworms, heart worms and hook worms.Capstar pill – This begins to kill fleas in 30 minutes and continues to kill fleas for 24 hours. This was used once in addition to the Revolution Plus.Steroid injection – My cat had an allergic reaction to the flea bites which caused terrible itching, scabs everywhere and her fur was falling out in clumps. The steroid injection will stay in her system for 3-5 weeks and helps with the intense itching.Antibiotic injection – This lasts for 2 weeks in your cat. She had flea dermatitis that caused a secondary bacterial skin infection.By no means am I saying that you need to do any or some of this for your cat. However I tried to short cut taking her to the vet. Thinking I could just get OTC products and it would be just as good. But she was suffering and I couldn’t watch her go through more itching, scabs, restlessness. I should have taken her to the vet to begin with but I was recovering from surgery and couldn’t. From now on she will be getting Revolution plus every month. Her scabs are healing nicely, she is able to rest and she is itching much less. Her fur is no longer falling out. We still are getting a few stragglers with the flea comb. She was taken to the vet about 10 days ago and already there is an improvement. My vet said that fleas are especially bad this year (none of my cats have ever had fleas) and that even with everything she did to expect it to still be a cycle of flea eggs hatching and fleas for the next 4 months. I hope this can help someone who is desperate to get rid of these nightmare bugs. Picture is after treatment, looking more like herself.

Her name was Kitty Girl, and she was the best Cat I ever owed.

    It does not break away
I got this collar for my cat. And the reflector part works great but I needed it for the breakability because she’s an indoor outdoor cat. She came home with her paw stuck in it and it never once broke away. It’s great as a flea collar but if you’re looking for something that’s going to break away this is not the one
