Very affordable
This heater works great for my 5 gallon fish tank. Keeps the temperature set and doesn’t fluctuate. I purchased it about 3 months ago and it’s still working.

A good little heater after all
I came very close to returning this heater within the first few days of setting it up because it was giving huge temperature fluctuations in my new 5 gallon tank. But before I did, I decided to do a little more online research and learned that rather than having the heater up near the top of the tank itâs better to put it closer to the bottom. Some also suggest attaching it at a 45° angle as opposed to straight. So I moved the heater to within a few inches of the bottom and positioned it on an angle. I also made sure the leaves of the plant near the heater arenât crowding it so that it has better water flow around it Lo and behold the temperature in the tank stabilized almost immediately. Iâve had the tank set up for a week now, and according to the digital thermometer I have for the tank this heater keeps the temperature at a steady temp of within 1° of what I have it set at. Iâm glad I didnât return it because Iâm happy with it now and would recommend.

Great for 5 gallon tanks!
Works as expected and keeps temperature steady and accurate in my small 5 gallon shrimp tank.Suction cup holds the heater securely to side of tank. Just the right size for small tanks.

Malfunctioned and killed my snails
worked fine for the ~10 months that i had it in my 20 gallon long community tank. one day i noticed my snails acting weird and touched the water just for it to feel like a nice warm bath! i dropped a thermometer in there and it read as 93 degrees F. i check the digital display on the heater and it was reading the water as 69 degrees F, so the heater was perpetually heating my tank until 2 of my snails died. completely ridiculous that a heater should malfunction like this. do not purchase this heater.

Great for chickens! Yep…you read that right.
So, when it hits 5 degrees Fahrenheit here in central Indiana, the chickens water freezes solid, of course. We can’t have that…chickens need their water, like ALL animals. Starve a chicken of water and just watch what happens to the egg-production! Besides the fact it’s plain cruel. So, I took a food-safe 5 gallon bucket, cut a rectangle opening just above the 2.5 gallon mark, while plenty tall enough and wide enough they don’t feel claustrophobic sticking their heads in, and have a 1″ hole drilled at the top in the rear to slide this heater in, and a 1/4″ hole right next to that hole to zip-tie the chord to the bucket rim so they cant move it. I set the temp to 65 degrees and at 5 degrees ambient temp, that little heater kept the water 55 degrees!…well above freezing! I don’t set the high temp above 65 because on warmer days I don’t want to waste electricity overheating their water.Tip: If you use this idea, do not let the heater lay flat on the bottom of the bucket…it will start to melt it…not enough to burn through, but enough you can see it tried. Lower it in until it lays nearly flat, but not quite touching, except the tip of the bulb, and it won’t do that. You could just lay a tea saucer, glass plate or something equivalent in it…even a flat rock, and it won’t matter. You could do the same with an open pan but, chickens mess their water real quick if it doesn’t have a lid, which is why I came-up with a bucket with a lid and hole cut in it. Been flawless for 3 years now.You can top-off your bucket with a container of warm water from your faucet as needed, but NEVER cold water when the heater is on…that will destroy the heater!…that sudden temp change will crack the bulb!I have to top-off the bucket once every 3 to 4 days with ten hens and one rooster…probably could go longer but, why make them stretch their necks! Anyway, great safe way to keep your birds water, vs some of the electrical hazards some other folks come-up with. AND you keep their feet out of their water! Even scratching as they do, doesn’t make it high enough to go in the opening. If its safe for fish to live in, it’s safe for chickens to drink from!!!
