The Hoof Boss Mobile holster accepts a Dewalt brand 20V rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery or a compatible replacement. The battery is NOT INCLUDED with the trimming set. Mobile Hoof Care Set can be used anywhere, due to the innovative use of a holstered battery connected to the tool with a short unobtrusive cord. The Hoof Boss is designed to meet the needs of most meat and milk goat owners who maintain a small number of animals. The battery powered version of the Hoof Boss has the same power as the Electric Plugin version. The Basic Goat Set contains three discs. The 8 Tooth Cdisc is used to cut excess material from the goats’ hoof while easily allowing you to see and control how much hoof you are removing. It is much harder to quick your goats’ hoof with the Hoof Boss than with traditional hand shears. There are also two abrasive discs. The Blue Medium Grit- Disc is used on goats with small hooves or regularly maintained hooves that do not require a lot of work to bring the hoof back to confirmation. The Blue Medium Grit Disc is a great choice when treating a foundered goat. The Silver Coarse Grit Disc is best suited for medium to large goat breeds like Boer Goats or those bucks that have rock hard hooves. Climate conditions also determine your choice of disc. If you live in a hot dry climate or in a cold winter area, the hooves are generally harder, and you may choose the Silver Coarse Grit Disc, or the 8 Tooth Disc may be your preferred choice. While warm wet areas the hooves tend to be softer. The 8 Tooth might still be your preference due to the abrasive discs could easily get excessive hoof material buildup and need to be cleaned more often. The Hoof Boss Trimmer is ergonomically designed to help ease the wrist and hand pain associated with trimming your goats’ hooves with hand shears, and it is easily operated with one hand leaving the other hand to wrestle that goats’ ever moving leg.

Faster trimming!
This works great! I use a DeWalt battery for power and it clips onto my belt. I ended up getting a finer grit disc ( gold/tan) because I trim them every other month and don’t need such a course disc every time. This has cut my trim time down to less than half. The goats don’t seem to mind this as much as cutting their hooves, maybe because its faster. I would definitely recommend!

I little awkward at first.
This little grinder is awesome! It was worth saving up for. A bit of a learning curve on how to hold a wiggly goat hoof and this machine and not cut yourself. Wear leather gloves for sure. Also keep your mouth closed or you’ll be spitting hoof shards! It grinds fast so be careful and don’t go to far (like I did) also it’s pretty loud so I only use it on a couple of my goats when I’m by myself, the ones that are not scared of everything! Lol

So far she has used it on a flock of sheep, a small herd of goats, and a couple of her cows. Much easier for her to use than nippers and file and gives better results.

Works, but loud
I had such high hopes for this hoof trimmer. It has a learning curve to be able to effectively use it and not hurt yourself or the animal. The tool is very loud and freaked my goats out( and they are used to being handled). In order to hold the tool, hold the leg still and hold the whole animal still while trimming you need 2 people. I tried multiple times, but even on the stand, I was unable to do the trimming alone.

So it says everything you need to trim hooves, except the battery and charger. This is garbage. I highly recommend if you must order one of these then buy the electric plug in one and save all the hassle and extra expenses. This model even costs more but is useless once you receive it until you buy the other items too. I am very very unhappy with this purchase and will not buy from them again.

Get a bigger battery than the compact one.
I’ve been having a problem with a buck’s feet and I was not able to trim because it was so hard. I opted for the battery powered one instead of the electric so I could move around. If your someone who babies your animals and trims their feet monthly, then your fine. I thou, let the goats work for me so I trim every 4 months sometimes 6 this makes their hoofs harder also.The Hoof Boss works as expected which is a 5 star but I was only able to do 2 bucks and 2 yearlings before the charge ran out. That’s why the 3 stars, get two batteries or get a bigger charger because once I start doing the 20 goats, I want to get them all done.
