Good hoof knife
Got this to keep my horse’s feet in good shape in between farrier visits and since I have been struggling with keeping a farrier after my usual retired. Easy to use, looks nice, feels good in your hand.

Nice hoof knife. Sharpener does not really fit.
I like this hoof knife. The metal that the blade is made from is beefy, and solid. The rivets attaching the scales are also very solid, and the handle is comfortable in my hand. The grind on the blade is on both edges, side by side allowing for left or right side use. The back of the blade is not sharpened. The magnetic attraction tells me that there is significant carbon in the metal, so avoid water and keep the blade and rivets oiled when not in use.
The sharpening tool has a plastic handle, two grits, is rather thin, completely flat, and feels cheap. Given that the knife edge has an inside curve, the sharpener should be curved as well, so it really does not fit the knife. I have a proper curved diamond file, so this one will be used to sharpen regular knife blades. For 21 bucks, not a bad deal.

not that sharp but servicable for light trimming
My first hoof knife. Having the loop design seemed like it would be more handy than a “straight” knife. However I found it hard to use, maybe because it isn’t that sharp (despite trying to use the file to sharpen it). Note, it doesn’t come with any directions on how to use the knife or the file.
When I unpacked it, I noticed quite a few rough spots, in addition to not being sharp. I guess that’s why it was only $26 (unlike the more expensive ones). I tried to photograph them, but hard to get the camera to focus well enough. I used the included file to try to buff them out, and to try to sharpen the blade. However it still didn’t seem to work that well, but that could also be me learning how to use a hoof knife.

I’ve been waiting a while to find a hooffile.That’s a loop that actually came with a sharpener.The hardest thing about using this knife is sharpening.It comes with a nice little holding kit.Does he have to do?It works well no complaint so far.We’ll see how long it’s Durable overtime. Honing. The diamond file is useful but only for rough sharpening youâll still need to hone after using it

Not Our First Rodeo!
We’ve had horses for way over 30 years on our farm, and do clean up on their hooves periodically, so this isn’t our first hoof knife. I was impressed by the fit and finish, which is really nice compared to some of the local farm store offerings. It is very sharp, and time will tell how it holds up, but having the sharpener included makes it way easier to maintain before use than having to dig around and finally run to the house to get my kitchen sharpener. I think this is a going to last a long time!

Very well made
This knife is built very nicely. The handle is made of a nice hardwood, feels great in your hand and the blade is thick and made of quality steel. The sharpener that comes with it has a 1000 grit side and a 400 grit side so you can keep the knife edge sharp and useful. I can already tell this is going to make picking out hooves so much quicker and easier!
