Birds Love It
Easy to fill and birds love it. If the bottom was easily removed, it would be perfect. I can’t unscrew the bottom and so seeds get trapped and sprout. If I can’t adequately clean the feeder then I need to replace. Update: with the right tools and elbow grease, was able to remove the bottom. Got the feeder thoroughly cleaned. Wasn’t easy to get apart and I do have a little rust.

Birds canât use
The holes are so small that birds ignore the feeder. I am trying to enlarge the holes, but the plastic is cracking unpredictably. I will update my review, if I manage to fix this feeder so that birds will use it (as they use our other feeders).

Poor re-design for this iBorn Finch Feeder – lots of water seepage and seed spoilage!
We currently have six iBorn finch feeders for Nyjer/Thistle seed – 4 of the former design and 2 of this newer design. The finches flock to these feeders, the perches are always filled and it is truly “standing room only”. They are a breeze to fill with seed and somewhat easy to clean. Overall, however, they are a bit flimsy as the seed tube is a lightweight plastic and the plastic fogs/wears in just a brief time outdoors. The longevity matches the price point of only $18. Hence, we replace these feeders annually.We recently changed from the iBorn finch feeders with the flat-bottom seed tube to the newly-designed iBorn finch feeders with the seed tube having a “V-shaped” bottom. Unfortunately, the new design with the “V-shaped” bottom on the seed tube does NOT facilitate drainage and prevent water from accumulating and spoiling/molding seed at the bottom of the tube. There was actually less water and seed spoilage with the older design, where the bottom of the seed tube was flat and there were two seepage holes on either side of the feed tube. We’re not thrilled with our two new iBorn finch feeders as we are wasting a lot of seed due to water seepage and having to clean the feeders far more often. IN ADDITION, the new feeders with the “V-shaped” bottom holds less seed, requiring more frequent refilling, and there are fewer useful perches for the birds. If you have an option – opt for the former design while they are still offering it. The new “V-shaped seed tube feeders are a bust!

Nice sturdy feeder. I filled it with a mix of pure niger seeds and distlefink blend and the goldfinches love it. The perches are nicely spaced so there is minimal squabbling and the holes are just the right size to reduce waste. Very pleased.

I filled this feeder with Schoen Farms Nyjer Seeds and hung it on a pole on my balcony. Within a day or two, American goldfinches identified it and began visiting regularly. Typically, they come in pairs – a male and a female.The goldfinches are absolutely beautiful, and I’m thrilled that the environment around my balcony has become so peaceful. This feeder has made a significant difference compared to my previous setup, where I used a plate with various food attracting squirrels and larger birds like grackles and starlings, making the area loud and noisy. Now, it’s much more serene since squirrels and large birds are deterred.In addition to the goldfinches, I’ve also seen chickadees visiting the feeder quite often lately. Both chickadees and goldfinches have lovely songs that add to the tranquility.The only downside I’ve noticed is that a lot of seeds tend to fall to the ground when birds eat from the feeder. To avoid a messy appearance, I recommend hanging it somewhere where the fallen seeds won’t be too visible.Overall, this feeder has been a fantastic addition to my balcony, creating a beautiful and peaceful environment with delightful bird visitors.
