Customers find the pet door easy to install and appreciate its functionality, with one noting it works well even in winter with ice and snow. The door receives positive feedback for its quality and value for money, and customers find it easy to use, with both dogs and cats using it successfully. The build quality and magnet strength receive mixed reviews – while some say it’s well-made and the magnet keeps it closed, others report it falls apart within two months and find the magnet too strong. EXCELLENT PET DOOR DESIGN ::: Very Very Satisfied for Kitty Kat ::: Now She can enjoy outside
GREAT DESIGN: I paid $19 open box on Prime delivery for the pet door. The instructions were precise and easy but required some skills with tools to install. THE MOST IMPORTANT need is to remove your patio screen door from the track in order to lay it on a flat protected surface in order to make your template on the screen material, then I cut out the opening after reinstalling patio screen door(ADVICE: DO NOT ATTEMPT INSTALLATION WITH SCREEN IN PLACE UPRIGHT). Our cat is is 6 months old and it took awhile for her to figure it out. But we handheld her and slipped her through the swinging door to the outside, she figured out how to come back in herself after the first 10 days. I believe you have to work with your pet, but she is getting it. She has not gone out without our help yet, but we put her out on to our protected balcony which she enjoys the fresh air and watching people & activities below on the street 1.5 floors down below.. The pet door is well made, and the company came through for what we needed. It’s sturdy, lockable, cleanable, and good. I would recommend it. Other similar products seemed a bit flimsy, so I paid a few bucks to get better quality. (plus I checked the reviews carefully) I definitely would recommend this pet door. Check my attached photo next to Kitty Kat’s litter box and food area, there’s the pet door, 2 inches from each edge of screen frame as they recommended. Its works great. ENJOY…

Install was easy except for pounding it together.
Installation of this was easy except for the need to pound the sides of the frame together with a mallet. I wish they would have just made use of the amazing simple machine known as âthe screwâ to fasten the halves of the frame.Suggestion to those trying to get a cat to use it: If you just install a cat flap and do nothing it will take them forever to figure out that itâs a door they can use.Get you and the cat on opposite sides, pull the thing open toward you (use painterâs tape to help), hold it open, and lure the cat through with cat treats. This gets them used to the idea that thereâs something for them to walk through.Donât drop the flap on their back yet though, lure them back and forth a few times holding it open. After that, do the same but gently set the flap on their back when they re half way through. This gets them used to the idea that the flap is not heavy enough to crush them and isnât being forced down by some mechanism.Do that a few times. Finally pull the thing open only a little bit and try to Iure them through to get them to try pushing it open themselves. After doing that a few times just try to lure them through without helping them any. This might take one day or might take more than one but itâs better than just sitting around waiting for them to figure everything out themselves.I didnât find the magnets too strong but kitty still seems suspicious of this particular cat flap just because itâs not exactly the size heâs used to. (Itâs a little bigger.)

The plastic is a little weak and it can be hard to lock
For the price I think this is a nice product. I bought this to make a window screen catio door for my cat. Be careful to have the plastic nibs lined up well before applying pressure when installing, the plastic cracked a little when I was putting it together. The swing door works well, however the little side latched can be tricky to line up right and the door almost never lands in the right resting place, usually on one side or the other, and getting it to the middle to latch can be a little annoying

Ideal Pet Door is a Great Product But Don’t Expect Pets To Master Using it Right Away
The Ideal Screen Fit Pet Door is a great product, but it requires patience and ingenuity on the part of the pet-parent and involves a learning process on the part of the pet. Don’t expect your pet to instantly take to it. So I have had the Ideal Products Pet Screen Door installed for a bit over a month now. I had the door installed by a handyman. Two magnets work in tandem to ensure that the door shuts tight after the pet passes through the door (one in the door, one in the frame), and when the door arrived, the one in the frame had fallen out (my only criticism). I made sure that the handyman was aware that he needed to orient the offending magnet correctly in order for the magnets to attract rather than repel one another so that the door closes properly. Getting the height of the door right is important. After eyeballing my cats, I had the handyman install the door one inch above the frame of the screen, and for my cats and my porch, that seems to be the perfect height. Once the door was installed, I followed the lead of another reviewer and rigged the door to stay open all of the time, and left it that way for about 10 days, or until the two cats were used to the pet door being there, and were using it freely to go in and out onto the porch. Then I closed the door, and when the cats wanted to go out, I would grasp their bodies and gently push them through the door, head first, so that they would understand they needed to use their heads to push the door open. One cat has a tendency to try to open the door using her paws, which aren’t strong enough to move the door, and makes it appear as if she is trying to play patty-cake with the door! She is getting the hang of it slowly, although the fact that the door opens vertically rather than horizontally, like all of the other doors she is familiar with, seems to throw her off a bit, and she keeps trying to push through on the side. We are still in the learning process. Both cats still want me to open the door for them. I try to resist, but often give in. Once outside, the cats will often return through the door on their own, but sometimes, such as right at this very moment, my male cat will sit outside the door crying plaintively, and I will try to ignore him for as long as I can, so that he tries to come in on his own. While the cats are still in the learning process, I do love this pet door, and am so grateful to have it installed, as it gives the cats more freedom and frees me up as well–and best of all, the fruit flies that used to plague me are all gone!
