Have you ever been frustrated with dead crickets?
We were! We were always getting dead crickets.
After years of shopping around, testing other species, and learning more about crickets, we found Banded Crickets Gryllodes sigillatus! These crickets ship well all year long; they weren’t dying when the temperatures would spike a little bit, or if the temperatures unexpectedly dropped. In most climates, they would consistently arrive alive and fresh.
They were also living much longer than other species we had experience with.
What benefits do banded crickets have for my pets?
All crickets are bred and raised to provide you the best quality feeder insect. These crickets also naturally contains more protein compared to other species of crickets, which is important for building and repairing tissue in your pets!
But what if they don’t all arrive alive?
Our goal is to get insects to customers that are alive on arrival every single time! We understand that sometimes because of extreme temperatures, handling mishaps, or shipping mistakes that just doesn’t happen. For the times when your live items don’t quite make it, we have a generous 3 Day Life Insurance Policy* on all live insects!
How are they packed in the winter when it is cold?
When the temperatures drop we switch over to cricket boxes that do not have vents. These boxes do a great job holding body heat from the crickets in the box, keeping them toasty during their winter travels. They also eliminate potentially fatal drafts!
The boxes are not airtight, and crickets can still breathe in the box. As oxygen levels decline, the crickets slow down their metabolism and movement. This state allows them to survive shipping. We’ve had them last over 2 weeks this way!
When choosing the size of your feeder insects, we recommend choosing insects equal to or less than the distance between your animals eyes. If you choose insects larger than that measurement, the animals can have difficulties consuming or digesting the feeders.

These stay alive long enough to be eaten
I was so frustrated at buying crickets for my bearded dragon from local big box per store. The next day they would all be dead. I was having to buy only what he could eat in one sitting but hated driving 30 min each way for crickets.With these crickets, there’s no more hassle. I’ve had no trouble keeping them alive for weeks until they run out ( not die out!) Happy beardie, happy owner

All alive, the right size, no issues at all.
Basically all 1000 alive and well. Delivered in a sealed box with a warm pack and some bits of potato and drink cup carriers used the same as egg crate. I ordered medium 1/2â crickets and thats exactly what i got.Iâm very happy and will order again.

Healthy Live Crickets sent right to your door!
Josh’s Frogs never disappoints with their crickets! The first time I ordered I was worried about how it’d work having them sent through the mail, but, I gave it a shot and got my first order a few months back. I’m so glad I did! I’ve ordered from them a few times now, and each time every single cricket has arrived alive and healthy. They are usually a little thirsty from being in that box during shipping. So all ya gotta do once ya get ’em is give them something with liquid for ’em to have a drink, and they’ll be happy and healthy for as long as you keep them. WAY better value than buying from my local pet shop. When I buy from there the crickets usually die within a few days. Josh’s Frogs crickets last as long as they’re supposed to, and I’ve yet to have even a single cricket dead on arrival. Plus, the sizes are accurate. I’ve gotten different sizes all the way from pinheads to adult crickets and each time I got exactly what I ordered. I doubt I’ll be buying crickets from anywhere else anytime soon just because these are far better quality and also better quantity than I can get elsewhere due to the simple fact that they’re healthy and don’t all die within 24 hours (as long as you actually take care of them, feed them, give them liquid like insect water jelly or even some fruit slices or something. They’re bugs, they aren’t picky, they’ll love pretty much anything you offer them and they’re fairly easy to keep alive once you have the right source and know how to keep them) Never gonna buy the sad dying lethargic crickets from the local store again. Waste of time and money. These are always healthy, always fat and happy, full of nutrients, ready to be fed to whatever needs them. (Or even just kept as a pet themselves, if that’s what you’re looking for. They make lovely little noises once they become adults.)

Excellent product!
ALL crickets were alive upon arrival and 3 days later none have died! They look active and healthy and so much better than the crickets from Petsmart. The only thing I didnât like was that it was very difficult to transfer the crickets into our small plastic containers and I had to put everything into the bathtub and it took a good 15 minutes. When you open the box, the crickets will immediately jump out so be careful! Great product overall though and I will definitely buy from here again.

Omg actually they are all fat and most of them are alive. I even ignored them in the delivery box for two days since they arrived. After then I moved them into a bigger container, they were all still very active. Love the store.

Extremely Impressed
This was my first time purchasing crickets online. I was concerned they wouldnât make it alive but I have to admit Iâm extremely impressed. They were well packaged and 99% made it. I will definitely order again in the future!

hit or miss with sizeâ¦
Iâve bought crickets twice for my young bearded dragon, one was 1/4â and the other 1/2â (the next size up from 1/4) and the 1/4 are literally one tenth the size of the 1/2 inch I was sent, they were clearly over an inch big full grown. So with the 1/4 inch the dragon had to eat 50+ per day, that was my fault for ordering too small for a young dragon just bought from the store, and the 1/2 inch were too LARGE for him to eat, and had to put them in a spare tank until they died a week later (with fresh sprayed greens daily). The reason for 3 stars is because the 1/2 inch were not correctly sized before sending.

Quality used to be better
I have usually had no problems when ordering crickets from Joshâs frogs, but the last two times there were a large number that arrived dead or died the very next day. This last shipment they were eating each other and even eating through the heat pack. Maybe 50 arrived alive.
