Product Description
Josh’s Frogs Giant Mealworms
Giant Mealworms are the larvae of the Darkling Beetle Tenebrio molitor and have long been a staple feeder insect in the reptile, amphibian, and bird hobby because of how inexpensive and easy they are to store.
Giant Mealworms are great large feeder insects for:
Leopard GeckosCrested GeckosFat Tail GeckosBearded DragonslizardsWild birdsFish. In fact, some fishermen swear by Mealworms, calling them the ideal bait!
These Giant Mealworms are about 1 1/4″ to 1 1/2″ in length; sizes may vary slightly because they are a natural product.
How to Feed When Using With Reptiles/Amphibians
Giant Mealworms can be fed as a treat or staple, depending on the animals you’re feeding. Make sure to dust Giant Mealworms with a proper vitamin and mineral supplement before being fed to your pet. Feed Giant Mealworms using feeding tongs or in a worm dish.
Older Giant Mealworms may pupate, but these pupae may still be offered to your pet. Discard adult beetles, as most animals find these distasteful.
How to Feed When Using With Birds
Giant Mealworms can be fed as a treat or staple for a wide variety of pet and wild birds like blue birds, orioles, grosbeaks, and robins.
Feed Giant Mealworms by placing them in a deep plastic dish or feeder. Giant Mealworms are climbers and will use wood sides to escape; so do not use a wooden bird feeder.
Wild birds absolutely love these high protein feeders as a treat and they can be taken back to the nest for fledglings.
How to Store
When Josh’s Frogs ships Giant Mealworms, they are already stored on wheat bran without food – exactly how you want to keep them.
Keep Giant Mealworms at 45-55F to prolong their lifespan. Under ideal conditions, Giant Mealworms should keep for several weeks.
As Giant Mealworms worms go bad, they will become dark in color and eventually turn black and spoil. Discard any black Giant Mealworms.

These guys are HUGE
I started a mealworm colony for my chickens last year with worms from a different company and have been unhappy with their size in comparison to some of my friends. I decided this year I was going to start over with a larger mealworm. I read the description of how large these worms would be but I was still shocked by their size. Iâve seen super worms for sale at the feed store and these are almost as big as those. Out of the 500 mealworms I ordered only 8 were deceased. So Iâm extremely happy to say the least. Iâve gotten other feeder insects from Joshâs Frogs and every time itâs been a positive transaction. I will keep coming back for their reliability and consistency even if they arenât the cheapest on the market.

Worm size and mobility
I give feed them to my box turtles and they love them-that’s their protein for the day.

One of The Best
After what I just went through with many meal worms, I need to let other customers know that all you really need is joshes frogs. At least they have good customer service, they properly packed feeders, label the boxes so carriers know there are live critters inside the package, and if it’s cold, at least Josh’s frog not only puts them in tubs that are safe for shipping but also use packing materials inside the box, I’ve received feeders who had little heat packs to help them sat warm on their journey. Because they realize that some folks have exotic pets who live where they can’t get feeders because they don’t live near a pet store or some place selling live feeders, so they don’t argue with the customer about ordering and some crazy winter cold also happens while the gecks food was low at the same time. They don’t try to make you feel like your southern state that got snow should have been your first clue to go back in time and un buy your gecko like some other company just did and at least Josh’s frog takes time to ship your critters in tubs with packing and sturdy boxes with proper lable. Some companies ship in a cloth bag, no packing, no labeling, flimsy box then argue that in the picture the box looks great apon delivery however fed ex just turned the smashed part out of the picture. It’s too bad my son brought the package in without taking a picture. They refuse refund and blame me for the weather and timing of my order like the gecko can wait until spring lol, would I have paid for rush delivery because of the weather? Absolutely, yes, I would have. I figured I’d say that here because Josh’s frog cares about your order, more than most and they should know as a repeat customer, I would pay for faster shipping in bad weather, I love my gecko, anything he needs, he gets. If Josh’s frog reads the reviews, I hope they see my review. This company is better then a lot of others in the business. Thank you y’all

First experience was 5 stars. Second experience -1
So I’ve ordered this product two times. The first was a wonderful experience. No loss of life and the worms were awesome size and quality. My lizards loved them. This time however if I could leave -1 stat I would. Only one worm survived, the container was set directly on the heating pad (which in my opinion wasn’t warranted considering the current temperatures in my region) with no barrier and cooked (yes friends, cooked) the 250 super worms are a total loss. Did contact seller and I’m waiting to hear back. I’ll update my experience if they return my inquiry.

Nice size for many
I did put smaller ones into habitat for their growth and feeding. I’m just learning to propagate or procreate or breed my insects. Have had success with meal worms to a crazy quantity in organic steel cut parts but I’ve read too high of protein(?). I feed them insect food and use Joshs Frogs insects watering gel. Boy! that disappears; who knew? Anyway happy with purchases from Joshs.

Awesome customer service
I love Josh’s Frogs. I will never order live food for my critters anywhere else. I had mealworms shipped to Iowa in the dead of winter many times and they always arrive alive and healthy and they don’t charge you an arm and a leg for shipping. This last time I ordered mealworms they were delivered in the middle of a snowstorm and I had them delivered to the school where I work – but we were out of school for 2 days and by the time I got the mealworms they were mostly dead. I contacted Josh’s frogs and they sent out a replacement the next day. I have had it happen twice (we have cold winters in Iowa) both times they sent me new mealworms. This is such a great company, I really can’t say enough about them. I have tried other companies and ended up paying more in shipping costs and got inferior product. If you haven’t tried Josh’s Frogs – give them a try.

Good Sized
Package seemed to take a long time to arrive after being shipped and some of the worms were dead this time. Other than around 6 casualties there are plenty left to feed my box turtle.
