Product Description
Our Classic Nutri-Berries avian diet is a nutritionally complete foraging food for parakeets. Give a fresh bowl of Nutri-Berries each day or as a nutritious snack. They offer all of the vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and antioxidants to live a long and healthy life while also providing your parakeet with important beak play and exercise. We hull the seeds and then coat them with stabilized vitamins and chelated minerals so that your bird receives the balanced nutrition they need, just like with pelleted diets. Plus, unground seeds provide the benefits of whole foods like birds have in the wild. Based in the US, we’re a second-generation-family-and-veterinarian-owned company in the farmlands of Illinois. All of our foods use human-grade, non-GMO, and high-quality ingredients.

Customers say
Customers report that their birds love this bird food and consider it a good diet supplement that’s better than a seed diet. The product receives positive feedback for its value, with mixed opinions about its quality and sturdiness – some find it fabulous while others consider it a waste of money, and while some say it lasts a long time, others report it crumbling apart. Customers disagree on the size, with some appreciating the good size while others note it’s smaller than expected, and there are concerns about clumpiness as the food tends to stick together.

My Budgies LOVE Their Nutri-Berries
My veterinarian suggested I feed Nutriberries to my budgies, saying they contain more vitamins and actual seed. My guys love this stuff. I buy a large container and divide it up in to smaller bunches in baggies, then freeze what I’m not going to use currently. I find that I need a channel lock wrench (seems extreme, I know) to break up the little berries, but I can’t crush them with my fingers. My husband has no problem crushing them with his hands. But if you’re a woman, try using some sort of kitchen tool for this. The berries need to be crushed; do not place them whole in the feeder. You will not have any waste of food because your bird will eat this up. It may seem pricey, but actually is cost-effective given the amount you need to feed them. I give two birds about 10 berries a day. My guys are very healthy, colorful, and robust. It is important to get the right “size” Nutri-Berries for your birds as there are several offered. If you have budgies, this is the one for you.

My parakeet is getting what she needs!
I have a VERY picky American Parakeet. She would pick the millet (little white seeds) and leave the rest of those “healthy” “balanced” bird seeds. I took her to the vet for a check up and they recommended Nutri-Berries. Now I have tried every pellet mixture and every “all natural” and “balanced diet” food available for my little keet, but this is by far the best. My parakeet LOVES them. She gets to pick them apart and of course, there is millet! The “berries” (or seed balls) are coated and stuck together with pellets, and healthy bits for your sweet feather baby! Even if my little keet thinks she is only eating millet I know she is getting a healthy blend just by digging around! I still feed her some leafy greens (spinach and a few herbs), but this is a WONDERFUL substitute to the unhealthy bird seed packages you find at pet stores! I have one American Parakeet and this tub lasts a LONG time.

LittleBully, Spotty and Blue-Blue love their Nutri-Berries and Classic Avi-Cakes
This is my 10th order with Lafeber/Amazon, and I have found solutions to the concerns expressed here by bird owners like me. In general, we agree it is a good product. As for my budgies, they can’t wait to get their fresh breakfast and dinner servings, so they also agree. I communicated with Lafeber to ask if there was a loose bird seed product available and was told the bucket is a very good choice, in my case, a no loose product available. As soon as I receive the bucket, I learned to transfer the product in sealed containers, therefore, there is never a block of seeds to contend with. I use a chopper to break the little balls and I do this every 3-4 days. My budgies are older now, they have developed the strong beak they need to break up the Nutri-Berries, so I expect I will stop using the loud chopper very soon. In the meantime, they also eat the classic avi-cakes to satisfy their foraging needs; fruits and veggies 2-3 times/week on a skewer and they seem to enjoy that. To encourage bathing, I place whole lettuce leaves in their bath and they eat that as well. That’s about all I can share.

One solid mass of seeds
My bird has been enjoying these treats for years. This last batch had loose berries on the top layer, but the remainder had become one solid mass with no individual berries . My bird wonât eat them if she canât pick up an individual berry. I tried to separate the mass, but it just crumbles into loose seeds. Itâs a lot of money wasted. Iâm very disappointed and will looking for a different line of treats for her.

Seeds
My budgies only eat these seeds after I crush them, it’s annoying to me but my birds loves eating them. I like that it’s non gmo.

Nutri-Berries for a long healthy life for your pet birds! (+fresh veggies/fruit, millet)
Edit: the price of this product has doubled in recent years. Thatâs faster than the rate of inflation. Lower the price on this product Lafaeber! â¦My 2 budgerigars love eating Nutri-Berries and it is nutritionally balanced with all the nutrition of pellets. I bought Lafeber pellets too but the parakeets more readily eat this stuff. I plan on transitioning their food to human grade foods: grains/seeds, mixed with pellets and giving them Nutri-Berries as a treat. Oh yeah, and a poached egg 1x/month for protein requirements in their diet. I’d rather give my pet birds fresh, whole, living, human grade foods than processed foods. Right now I feed them Nutri-Berries, organic greens, and a little spray millet. I put the greens in a shallow container of water and the birds like to bathe and eat the greens at the same time. Eventually I’ll start giving the budgies grated carrot, fruit, and other budgie friendly foods. One thing I’ve learned is that you have to give your pet birds fresh veggies almost everyday along with a nutritionally balanced food mix like Nutri-Berries. My last budgie I had came down with chronic respiratory wheezing and I learned the cause was a nutritional deficiency from a world class bird vet. Other budgies I’ve had died within 4-5 years after I was feeding them only seed. They should live 10 years or more if taken care of properly. I think Nutri-Berries is way better than just giving your parakeets seed. Nutri-Berries even contain protein from eggs. The budgies readily eat these out of my hand so I know they love them. I’ve even eaten a couple myself because they smell so good! My budgies are now almost 10 years old using nutriberries as their main food. Unfortunately one has a diseased liver. Not sure what caused it but it makes me think nutriberries may not be the perfect bird food but much better than commercial seed mixes.

These get the Sammy-boo seal of approval!
My little girl loves these! She plays with them by tossing them around her cage (and eats them too, of course!). The smaller size of these compared with the parrot Nutri Berries is perfect for her little seed-chomping beak. I like to put a few in her food bowl and throughout her cage, and I serve them with Rowdybush pellets. They keep her occupied, and are lovely little foraging snacks.

Good product, my conure loves them. They are packed very tight. I found if I squeezed the container around the outside it helped to loosen all the little balls. I thought they were swished and broken until I did this.
