Living World Hagen Pet Carrier
About
When transporting your small pet, the temptation is to cusp it in your hands or roll it up in your sweater and carry it around. This may be okay for a brief period of time and over short distances, but for a number of reasons–including safety and comfort–it’s not a good idea for longer trips, such as to the vet or to your child’s show-and-tell presentation at school.
Have Carrier, Will Travel
The best, smartest, and easiest way to get your small pet from point A to B is to use a pet carrier specifically designed for small animals. The idea is to provide a nice and smooth mode of transportation–not a joy ride. The carriers are designed to take the risk out of small pet travel and ensure that your furry one travels in comfort and safety.
The carriers come in two sizes – a small one for hamsters, gerbils, mice and small rats and a large one for rats, guinea pigs and chinchillas.
More Features
There’s also ample area at the bottom for the addition of bedding or a small blanket for extra coziness.A large opening at the top allows easy access inside. Simply transfer your pet to the carrier and proceed with cage maintenance. An elaborate pattern of ventilation holes located along the sides and top portion of each unit creates a comfortable breeze inside, making small pets feel at ease in an airy setting. The lid clicks into a closed locked position to ensure that your pet will not escape. Works fine for adult cockatiels
Needed a carrier to take my full grown cockatiel to the vet for wing, nail, and beak trimming. He flies like a rocket when fully flighted, so a sturdy carrier is top priority. This was a perfect size. My bird could stand at full height with plenty of space to move around in. The weight was also great. I have a severe disability, and this product is very light, so I was able to carry it without needing assistance, as I generally do. There are plenty of air vents on the sides all around and on the top. the only down side is that the top seems a little flimsy, but when/if it snaps off, I plan to just use large rubber bands (The big tan ones used in offices with large files) to hold it together. Also, would be nice if there were holders for at least water, but also for a snack or food for longer trips. I DID required assistance to assemble, but, again, I’m sure that was due to my disability. My bro in law assembled it in just a couple of minutes easily. No tools required. Just snaps together. One of the best things is the clear top. My bird was comforted by being able to keep me in his sight, thus decreasing his new experience anxiety. The vet and her staff all commented on how cute and cool this carrier is. Almost forgot..I put an old wash cloth on the bottom to prevent slipping and sliding. Worked great. I recommend this 99%. One point off for flimsy lid. The way this is made tho can be easily gerry rigged to keep using even after a broken lid..as mentioned with large rubber bands or twine. The price is so good too, now small bird owners don’t have to pay $80 plus to have a decent carrier.

Perfect size for my Sun Conure
I need to take my conure in to get his claws trimmed and needed a way to get him there safely. I wasn’t thrilled with the bird-specific carriers that were available – especially because so many of them are extremely pricey. This is the perfect size and should do the trick. I put some blankets in it and have been letting him play in it with the lid up so that he gets more comfortable with it and so far, so good.
It is definitely the right size for a guinea pig or small rabbit and probably better suited to those critters. I think that a guinea pig would fit comfortably. It is not recommended/made for birds, but should be fine for a trip to the vet and back. A major drawback to using this carrier for a bird is that it is plastic and larger birds EASILY chew through plastic. The slotted plastic that surrounds the top half is incredibly appealing to him and he has already made a beak mark there, so I will probably need to reinforce the inside with metal mesh or something so that he doesn’t chew his way out. BUT, I love the size and construction of this carrier so much that I am willing to do a little extra to make it more chew-proof. If I DO get handy and add mesh, I will post a photo.
I am very happy with this purchase. The size is great. The price is great. The construction seems durable and should last for years (as long as I keep him from chewing the plastic). I was pleasantly surprised when I received it and put it together. For just over $14, I got a solid little carrier.

Not sturdy but good enough for temporary use
The material is plastic and it seems sturdy enough, but the problem is the see-through clear plastic used as a hinged opening / door. Opening it is very difficult because the plastic is slippery and it doesn’t have any handles you can hold onto, so it does take a while to open and close the door. I’m sure it would be okay just opening and closing it normally, but the plastic does feel a bit brittle so better safe than sorry.
As a travel carrier (to and from the vet, pet store, etc.), the large size is good enough to bring home a dwarf hamster. It is too small even for a dwarf or baby bunny. It is tall enough to put around 4 or 5 inches of bedding. Does not include a water bottle or anything to hold the bottle, so suggest watermelon slices or other fruits for water. The handle to carry it feels secure enough, but still a better idea to hold it by the base.

Great carrier, but a flimsy lid
This is a great animal carrier, especially for going to and from the vet. But for those making longer trips, beware–it has no space for a water bottle, so sliced cucumbers may have to be a substitute for your animal’s hydration. The base of the carrier is sturdy and strong, and I love the material it was made out of! However, the lid feels very cheap and flimsy, but I do like how clear and big the plastic is so that you can see your tiny friend no matter where they might be. I didn’t like the size of the large personally (I think its too small), but I won’t knock a star for that because it’s a great size and cage for what it’s meant to do–house an animal while taking it to the vet/other short trips. I would recommend this to anyone needing a carrier for their animal!

This is the cutest carrier you will ever find
I have been looking for a small carrier for my cockatiel, and this one surpassed my expectations. It is solid and well-constructed. It is cute beyond belief. It is also the perfect size, if you need to transport small birds (cockatiel or smaller). Because the bottom is solid, I don’t have to worry about drafts, but she can look out through the slats if she wants. The top lifts off and is large enough to allow me to reach in and get her. I think she’ll feel very secure in here, and I will feel like we’re having a little holiday every time I carry her in it.
The only possible weak spot is in the latches that act as the hinge for the lid. I ordered this carrier and the next size up, thinking I could use the bigger one for my conure. The bigger one arrived damaged, and the damage was on those little tabs in the back. The lid is meant to hinge open but also be removable, so the two back tabs are inverted “L” shaped pieces of plastic. The shorter part of the “L” could probably break off easily if you tweak it the wrong way, or as the carrier plastic gets old and brittle. With some care, though, it shouldn’t be a problem. Even if it breaks off, the lid still works, but it just doesn’t hinge. You’d have to remove it completely when you wanted to open the carrier.

Loved this little carrier! We purchased it so that we could safely bring home a new hamster from the humane society. It was an hour and a half drive and allowed us to securely transport our new little friend home.
I placed a generous amount paper substrate in the bottom, a hide and small toilet paper roll inside. I also sprinkled a few lab blocks and seed around. Little hamster was very happy and entertained the whole way home. I wouldn’t recommend it for lengthy trips as there isn’t a a spot for a water bottle dispenser. But for a quick transport or using it for vet visits, it’s a wonderful carrier for little critters!
