Customers say
Customers find this fly fishing combo offers great value for money and serves as an excellent starter kit. The rod and reel exceed expectations, with one customer noting it handled a 50-pound fish with ease. Moreover, customers appreciate its lightweight design, nice case, and good functionality. However, the build quality receives mixed feedback – while some find it very high quality, others report it breaking under 10 months of use.

Better than you think!
Great rod and reel in my opinion. Only been fly fishing for a few yrs, and to find a decent priced 8wt, thatâs made good and works well was awesome. Iâve had this for about a yr and half now and Iâve put it through everything. Stays in my truck most of the time cause I never know when I feel like fishing and it still works great! Totally recommend!

Great rod for the price!!
Great rod for a beginner not wanting to spend big bucks as you learn. The flies might be good for trout but no good for bass in lakes and canals (got some nice ones at Bass Pro Shop) The case is nice as is the snipping tool. Line is a bit stretchy but works well, as does the real. Hay is ugly as sin, lol.

4/5 star
Received my maxcatch extreme 9â #6 with 5/6 reel today it was packaged very nice and everything inside the hard sturdy case. Everything seems to be exactly as described. The fly case is handle and a fits in the side pockets of the sturdy rod/reel case. The only problem that I see is that the lanyard clip where you would hood your snips to the rivet came undone and fell apart. Other than that you wonât go wrong with this setup

Looks and feels amazing.
I canât compare it to much but I have a martin fly rod combo for 30$. I thought that was a decent setup. I pulled the trigger on this combo 8wt because I want to up my game. Oh man what a huge difference..The handle is a soft touch cork. The rod feels really light. The rod case is nice and solid for protecting it.It came with some flies that seem decent to start with and a fly case. The reel is awesome compared to the martin combo I have, adjustable drag/doesnât click while reeling, much bigger size, and the quality look/feel is great. The casting is super easy for me. Barely had to try and it wanted to throw the line like it wasnât even there..I received it today and immediately took it to the lake around the corner and I messed around with it. Caught a bunch of bluegill on it, 8wt is pretty over kill for panfish but I wasnât catching any bass at that area so I switched to small flies.I will update this post if any issues arise from more usage!I highly recommend this combo! As an upgrade from some thing like the martin combos that are cheap.. or even skip the cheaper combos all together and go for one of these!

Great addition to my collection, great value.
I have 4 fly setups that are much heavier and much more expensive for salt and bass. I wanted something light and cheap to leave in the truck to fish small ponds for bluegill and the occasional small large mouth on my way home from work. I figured what the heck, this combo costs 1/10th of my 7wt setup. I am honestly super impressed. I figured with the price I was going to get something super flimsy and low quality, but I was pleasantly surprised. Even the line is good. Rod has a nice fast action great finish surprisingly light, and although the reel isnât the best looking, it does what it needs to do on a 3 wt, which is hold the line. The carry case seems to be made well, and the extra fly box and storage on the carry case makes keeping this setup under the seat of my truck a breeze. For bluegill and crappie this thing has taken the place of my TFO 5wt. Blue gill the size of your hand feels like fighting a 7lb bass on a bait caster. Oh and the free hat they threw in was a nice bonus as well. Thanks yall, Iâll spread the word to my buddies.

Great Combo
Great durable rod and reel. Comes all ready to go. All you need to do is assemble, line it, tie the fly and fish. Decent quality flies, and a good hard case. Overall Iâm extremely impressed. The company seems reputable with a respectable mission statement. If youâre looking for something thatâs will work and catch fish on a budget, donât hesitate to buy this setup. Iâll probably buy another just to have for a friend or family.

Wrong reel size
I originally gave a negative review after receiving a reel of the wrong size. I ordered the Maxcatch Extreme 9′ #6 fly rod with its companion 5/6 reel, but got the 3/4 reel instead. Make sure you check your shipment.Updated review: I received the a replacement very quickly. The package arrived in great shape, and best of all, I received the right reel this time. This is the first time I ordered a rod through Amazon and was a bit leery about damaged packaging. Not a problem here – the box came to my door without any damage. On top of that, the rod/reel and other items were safe inside a really sturdy case. I took a close look at the rod and found no issue. I like the dark green color. The rod is light and feels right in my hand and balances well with the reel it comes with. The reel makes a small sound as I crank it around, but otherwise it spins smoothly. It’s made of metal (aluminum) yet light. I tested the drag – I can dial in the drag strength and think it will be more than sufficient for a 6-wt rod. I really like the case. It’s sturdy and protective. I could probably fit another small spinning rod (probably a 2-piece 5′) in this case. The starter set of flies is ok. You will eventually want to get your own anyway. The fly box is nice though, it fits nicely in the outside pocket of the case. The kit comes with the line tool and a lanyard – useful. And the hat is adjustable and actually fits my big head.I am looking forward to taking this rod to the water. I will continue to update the review after having used the Maxcatch combo for a few times.

Surprised how well this thing casts, the reel is very smooth. Was looking for a cheap 3WT and this works perfectly. Nice kit with the case, flies and fly box. All you need to start catching fish, without breaking the bank.
