Tip: It is recommended to mix sphagnum moss fiber with aquarium sand (sand for hermit crabs) in a ratio of 1:5. This ratio of substrate allows for burrowing but also retains moisture well, which is important for hermit crabs, especially during molting, and the sand is great for adding stability to the substrate while the sphagnum moss fiber helps to retain humidity.

Good substrate
The mixture came as advertised and did infact expand when water was added. Decently priced for what you get. Its easy to use also, open and pour some water on it and mix. However my little hermit crab did not like it so we removed it from his tank.
