Good quality for some hungry fish
My first experience with New Life Spectrum wasn’t so great. I bought some of their micro pellets and they ended up being too large for most of my fish mouths. Once the pellets sank, my bottom dwellers also didn’t seem to take a large interest in them either. Despite that, I decided to try another of their products because New Life Spectrum is well regarded my the fish keeping community. This 90 gram or 3.2 oz can of fish food doesn’t seem like much, but it really is a large quantity of food. Fresh out of the container the flakes are on the large side. So large, you will end up having to crush them between your fingers before feeding them to the typical fresh water tank stock. I personally keep rainbow fish and mollies and they weren’t able to eat the flakes out of the container unless I ground them up first. This is my only annoyance with this product, but if you got fish with larger mouths then this shouldn’t be a problem. As with all foods, the way your fishy friends will react is a mystery. Thankfully, my fish were very receptive of this food. The rainbowfish ate it and my mollies went nuts for it. Even my chain loaches and corrydoras would swim up to get the flakes. Before I fed them this food I was feeding them Omega One freshwater flakes.Another thing I like about these flakes is the ingredients. It has krill, squid, fish and seaweed to ensure a good balanced diet. Unlike cheaper economy fish food that is mostly a bunch of fillers like corn and wheat or the dread mystery fish meal.Overall, this is some good food for your community freshwater tanks. Most fish are quite receptive to it and that’s probably in part because of the garlic in the food. My rainbows look just as good as ever and now that I’m at the bottom of this container. I have no doubts to get another for my fish to enjoy.

A Good Fish Food Supplement
My husband keeps large fish tanks and feeds a variety of fish foods he blends together. The New Life Spectrum foods have been a part of this fish food variety for some time.

Big container with Big flakes
The container is big and the flakes are big also. You can easily break the flakes to a smaller size suitable for the size of your fish. Very good main ingredients and my fish love the flavor.

Great food, but update the label
While I had some of my previous ordered NLS flake food left (almost 2 years already a great buy) I figured I would try the new version with squid now added . Some things I noted ;The container and label has not changed from the previous version. Although NLS went to a new ânaturoxâ itâs not listed on the jar, label etc so I thought I got the old formula. It was not till I compared the ingredients and various vitamins did I notice this was the new formula. I would think NLS would look to market this a little better but when you have a great product , it speaks for it self. While the older version had red and green flakes, the new version has flakes that are all the same color (beige). Comparing the ingredients and vitamins the new version has higher vitamin content along with more crude fiber so I guess the squid kicks it up to a new levelThe true test is the fish and I must say as soon as it was dropped in the tank they attacked it devouring it in 20 seconds.NLS is a five star product and I highly recommend there flake and pellet food, both of which I been using a few years now. I take off a star for the poor marketing of great product.

After years of keeping fish, this is the best fish food I have found thus far
My fish have done very well on this food. I used to have a devil of a time keeping angels healthy and happy. Now they grow to fist-sized flake-gobblers! When they see me with this food container in my hand, they literally swim to the edge of the tank and open their mouths waiting for the flakes to drop. The flakes are rather large right out of the container, which is good for most fish but I always crumble some for my smaller fish. I don’t have a single fish in my tank that won’t eat these flakes with gusto. Interestingly, since switching over to these a couple of years ago, I actually have Bristlenose Catfish repeatedly breeding in a community tank. I’m astonished. Was it because of this excellent food? There is no way to prove it, but it’s never happened before. It is not a cheap food, but I highly recommend it!

Large flakes inside, fish appear to enjoy the food. Good ingredients.
The flakes in this jar are HUGE. Almost like they were scraped off the tray and nearly folded inside haha. Had to use my feeding spoon to crush them up in the jar some. Fish seem to like them. Not sure if my kids did anything as far as opening the large jar or something like that, but after a trip away for a week, the jar of flakes smells strongly of a fishy smell. Fish still eat the flakes, so not sure if they are souring, or if itâs nothing at all. Didnât realize either the size I picked would be such a huge jar. Pretty sure these will go bad before I can use it all.

Lots of awesome stuff in these, not just filler. I throw big pieces in so all my guppies have fun tearing it apart. Fun for them and to watch. Bought for the garlic and a few other ingredients. A little pricey I thought but Big container, huge flakes. Worth it for my spoiled pretties. Colour improved too.

Been feeding my salt water fish for decades with this food. Good food and liked by all fish.

Love the ingredients and the fish have given their stamp of approval. The flakes are firm enough to be uncomfortable to crush with your fingers but loose change in the jar will break up the flakes, just go easy on it as you will make dust if overzealous.
