Great Quality
This rat food has excellent ingredients and is high quality. My rats love it, and the large bag lasts quite a while with my three rats. Itâs a solid choice for feeding them. The pieces are larger and shaped differently compared to the younger rat version.

I believe the quality of this food is at the top of the list, my rats love it and actually prefer it over the other foods with all the fruits and nuts. I think the value for the money is comparable to pet stores. The bag is pretty durable and I have to say I appreciate the resealable “zipper”.I also must say the ease of use of the bag helps when you have multiple bowls to fill. The opening is big enough to put a small scoop and my hand in, where as other brands I have used donât open completely unless I rip the bag. I donât think the smell is too bad kind of just smells the same as other animal food, nothing too stinky.

I’ve got 2 regular mall pet store rats ~8mo old. They absolutely refuse to eat some of the other bargain rat pellets I’ve purchased. But they’re excited for me to fill their bowl every morning with this like I’m giving them treats. I saw it recommended by some random people on a pet rat forum for being a healthier option and decided to try it.Reasonably priced, possibly healthy, and my rats love it. I’ll be ordering this again when they need a refill.

One of the best block food
I’m not a huge fan of rat food that are mixes. My rats will always pick out what they like and leave the rest making it so they don’t get the correct amount of nutrients. A lot of mixes also have dried corn (can be deadly) and a lot of seeds which is high is fat.Oxbow has been the best food so far and my rats love it. It’s triangle shaped making it easy for them to hold and eat. Has the perfect amount of nutrients for them (ofc I still give fresh veggies, fruit, and protein).For three rats the bag typically lasts me 3-4 weeks. I’ve purchased the 50lb bag and it lasted me 7 months.

I researched everything I could find about good food for the rats (we have 4) and I’m sure you all know how picky they can be. I decided to try the “Oxbow Regal Rat” food for it’s complete nutrition and mix the “FM Browns Tropical Carnival” in for variety. Keep in mind my rats wouldn’t eat anything but the “goodies” out of the store bought Kaytee Fiesta diet we have had them on.First of all both the Oxbow Regal and the FM Browns Tropical Carnival smell good, even to me. Sounds funny but you know rodents use their noses more than any other sense. Have to be able to smell what’s edible in the dark, dude. So if I think it smells like catfood and fish meal, the rats are going to find it even better…Second – the Oxbow is very similar to cat/dog food kibble instead of the giant soy nuggets in every other bag of food you find at the pet store (and no ones rats eat those, do they?) Why pay for stuff your rat doesnt’ eat? I mean, would you keep buying dog food that tastes so bad Fido won’t eat it? And complete nutrition! I have always worried about my rats getting their vitamins – I want them to live long healthy, happy lives.Third – The FM Browns Tropical Carnival is mostly seeds and “some” cereals and “few” dried shrimps, but it smells good and see above for my take on that. I know some folks have said not to give their rodents seeds because of too much protien or fat or whatever, but hey, these are American rats! We like some potatoes with that dry as a bone baked chicken breast and no-butter green beans. As long as the majority of what their eating is the healthy stuff, let them have some “junk food.”First day with the new foods mixed together, stirred into their old stuff: the rats all picked out the new Oxbow and left the old Fiesta Max in the bowl! Hey Mikey! He likes it!I normally will give my rats fruit and veggies every night for dinner on top of their kibble (and a piece of candy, shame on me) but I have to admit the other day I completely forgot to feed them. Next morning the rats were, of course, hanging from the bars of the cage like “feed us, we’re starving!” but they had been picking through the Oxbow/FM Browns mix I feed them and there was very little mess.Good nutrition, good price, available when you want it, and the rats like it. What more could you want?

Main food for my rats, great value with the large bag. It lasts about 3 months for me with 8 rattos 4 girls and 4 big boys. They all enjoy it. Great kibble shape prevents selective eating so I know they are getting everything they need nutrients wise. The bag itself is good, doesn’t rip open but the re-sealable top breaks apart from the bag too easy.

Best commercially available food for adult rats according to the advice of all the big rat fanciers. (Not all oxbow products are recommended). This one is great because many foods marked good for rats have alfalfa and other ingredients expressly bad for rats (ie: they cant digest alfalfa). This bag shoud be about $13-15CAD. Recently amazon lost the $13CAD distributor they had and i went back to getting it locally because the price went crazy here. Still a good product though…
