Customers say
Customers find this aquarium to be a great little tank that’s perfect for Betta fish and shrimp, with a quiet filter that’s easy to maintain and clean. They appreciate its size, noting it fits well in downstairs decor, and like its appearance, particularly how it looks in the evening when lit. However, the filter strength receives mixed feedback – while some find it appropriate, others say it’s too strong for Betta fish. The value for money also gets mixed reviews, with some considering it a great value while others find it overpriced at $65.

Nice design. Well made.
Love the design of this tank. I use for my beta fish. He loves it but did not like the filter so I removed it. I thought the filter was nice and quiet and did not disturb the water much, but he seemed afraid of it, stopped eating. I still think the tank is great. The light is nice. Itâs all very easy to use and clean. I actually bought a second one so I can change and clean it. He is happy again.

A perfect little desktop aquarium.
The tank is perfect for both my desktop and Betta. The filter output is not too strong for the Betta. The Betta is able to rest on the Amazon Sword leaves, as well as in different locations around the tank. (Others here have posted how to reduce the filter output if needed.) I added a Hagan Marina reversible aquarium background. I did not use the adhesive sealer, as I prefer a more subdued background. I added one Amazon Sword, one Marimo moss ball, gravel and a few rocks for the in tank decoration. The pump is essentially silent. You have to really pay attention when all else is quiet to hear it. That is a huge plus for me. The plastic is crystal clear and I love the rounded edges, but it is plastic so I’ll need to be careful not to scratch it.The dark rocks are a few from the ones I had in the base of the Betta’s old bowl. After moving the Betta to a cup, I stirred around the old water and rocks vigorously, let the silt settle, and then poured the water in the new tank to provide a starter for the beneficial nitrifying bacteria. After a while I’ll add some ghost shrimp and possibly five or six Ember Tetras. (I know the Tetras are pushing it, especially since the tank doesn’t have an under gravel filter to increase the nitrifying bacteria colony. But my Betta seems to be a woos, so I may try it and pull them if the chemistry goes awry). The only thing negative I have to say about the unit is I wish the cord that goes from the pump to the light was twelve inches longer. That would give me ultimate flexibility in positioning the pump. But I can make it longer if I want and it works fine for the decor I’m using now, so it’s not a big deal. I’m not worried about finding a replacement filter. On tiny tanks like this I generally don’t use the filter that comes with it or I modify the filter so I replace only half the filter at a time. Of course I have to change out the filter halves more often, but since I often push the capacity of a tank this allows me to keep more of the benefit of the nitrifying bacteria that colonizes the filter. Even if you don’t want to go to this trouble, the filter has a sponge pre-filter that comes before the main filter that holds the activated charcoal. Just don’t rinse out the sponge at the same time you change the main filter and you’ll keep the a solid colony of the beneficial bacteria anyway.UPDATE: A month or two after setup, I added a small albino plecostomus (~1″), two ghost shrimp (~1″ each), and one cherry red shrimp (~1/3″). I have not changed my feeding routine of two Betta pellets three times a day, with an occasional third pellet added. All are thriving. The shrimp have all molted at least once. The tank is algae free. The bottom is free of visible detritus. The Amazon Sword put out a rhizome, which I anchored in the opposite back corner. The sprout is now a little more than half the height of the aquarium. I couldn’t be more pleased.

Swim Shady loves it!
Got this little tank for my Betta, Swim Shady. He’s on my desk at work or I’d have him in a 5gal tank. When I first received this tank, the filter did not work. Wouldn’t turn on, gave no indication that it was even trying to work. Contacted Amazon and they expedited me a new set. Connected that filter and it works perfectly. I’ll probably look into a tighter foam piece for the filter the slow down the flow just a bit but Swim Shady seems to like it! He’s got real plants in this tank vs his old one and the day I moved him over to this one he built a bubble nest!I am using a 5w heater in this tank as well and tho it doesn’t have a temperature pre-set option, it has kept the tank at a consistent 77-78 degrees Fahrenheit. The LED light is really nice and keeps the tank looking bright and happy. The filter connects through the light and I worried that the switch for the light would turn off the filter as well but it doesn’t! Filter stays on as long as it’s plugged in which is nice. I turn it off for a minute or two every day to feed him so his food isn’t swept away too quickly.Glad the customer service was great and Swim can now enjoy his new home!UPDATE:RIP Swim Shady. He lived a full life. I redid this tank for my new Betta, Mackerelmore. He loves it as much as Swim Shady did. Swim Shady’s fins were massively torn because he liked sitting underneath the filter and it was too strong. I ended up buying API 30ppi filtration foam to slow the filter. It didn’t do much to slow the flow so I burrowed out what is essentially a cap of foam that sits on the bottom of the filter to protect Betta fins (you can see this in my second photo). This helped tremendously. Also, positioning the filter all the way to one side and as high as possible will help Bettas swim comfortably.Looking forward to a good, long while with Mackerelmore.

I use this as a quarantine tank for my betta fish.I donât recommend a fish living in this permanently, but I do like the simplicity of it!
