Great product does everything it claims and works well
Let me start this review by stating (because many product pages are overrun with inflated fake 5-star reviews now) I have not been compensated or encouraged in any way, shape, or form by the seller to write a review or give the product a rating. I have chosen to write this review simply because I wanted to.I have been a long time amazon shopper and typically never write reviews for products. However, the PetCube 2 Play has made my girlfriend so happy that I felt I had to share some of the positivity. First, the elephant in the room. This is at the time of writing this review a $200.00 dollar product. Now let me tell you why it MIGHT be worth the high price tag.Setting up the product was extremely easy. Depending on how savvy you are with technology it should take anywhere from 5 – 20 minutes. The product does require a Wifi network to function and of course, is going to work best with a compatible smartphone. Once you link the product into the Wifi network it’s pretty much ready to go.It comes with Alexa built-in and can be controlled by the smartphone app when away from the house. The video quality is very good and the device powers on with a distinctive chime when it powers on that will likely condition your pet to get interested every time they hear it. The laser function works great as well, of course, there is some lag however this does not affect your ability to use the laser to play with your pet. The Zoom and night vision function also works well. No, you won’t be able to see every tiny detail in the pitch-black dark but you can still see enough to see your pet, move the laser around a bit, and make sure they’re still there which is ultimately the point of the product. Not to count the hairs on their head in the dark so I won’t penalize the product for not having $2,000.00 nightvision equipment built-in. You can also use the device to speak through and the product works great at performing this function with no issues but I will say the benefit of this will probably depend on your particular pet. In our case the cats show no interest when you talk to them over the device however that is probably how they would react in you were in the same room.Ultimately, if you’re the type of person that needs to check in on your pets while you’re away or if you just want to stimulate your pet with the laser to wake them from deep boredom while you’re at work or such then the PetCube 2 play is definitely a good product and does what it claims. Personally, I am not that type of person and don’t feel the need to watch my pets with a video camera however my girlfriend is and used to experience a lot of anxiety when away worrying about her cats. After a week of using the product my girlfriend actually cried when she told me how happy she was that I had given this to her and how much stress it took out of her daily life. So if you have a girlfriend, wife, husband, aunt, grandma, or sister who is constantly stressed about leaving their pet alone without knowing if they’re okay then the $200.00 is worth the peace of mind and stress relief it will bring. If you just want a camera to watch your house while you’re gone there are more cost-effective options out there. Again, I will reiterate that these words and review is my own and in no way was I compensated or encouraged by the seller to review or rate this product. Thanks for reading my thoughts!

Works great on Wi-Fi and cellular. Laser toy is great!
I didnât know what to expect when I got this as far as quality of video or laser toy or connectivity away from the house. All I can say it has far surpassed my expectations in every way. Let me give you an example. I was on my way down to the ground on a plane. I thought, let me check on my cat. Using the Wi-Fi on the plane, I was able to access the video feed in my home living room and see my cat was there bored and needing to play. I enabled the laser toy and proceeded to play with her for five minutes while we finished landing. She had a great time and I was reassured she was ok. The quality of the video was great, almost no lag, and the laser toy worked like a charm! There is a little lag for the laser toy but it still is great. A+ for this. I would gladly recommend to anyone.Setup wasnât that hard either. The only hiccup was that I chose a camera option for someone in my building that they were already using. Once I selected the correct Petcube model, it connected fast and easy!!

It’s amazing, missing few adjustments.
I’m updating this review based on the company contacting me and looking into every issue I had.The image quality is very good, but zooming in loses a lot, and the image freezes (shortly but constantly at first, a lot less now). The night vision is ok, not fantastic, but it lets you see movement. The laser is not very accurate when playing online, and even after calibrating it goes where it can’t be seen when playing by itself. It was moving too fast at first, but it seems to have gotten much better, moving at a speed that the cats can follow.Alexa doesn’t work very well. Alexa in the cube is incredibly sensitive, much more that the echo devices that we have. The sound in the cube is not good, not clear at all, and I really wish it would just stop listening, but disabling her ability to listen did nothing. The instruction for the cube to play with the cat is super long “Ask Petcube to play with my cat for X minutes”. At first it would only understand 2 minutes, but now I can choose the time. I usually do 10 mins because I have a lot of cats. Sadly, much more often than not, it will not understand and will try to suggest other cat skills that I don’t care for. I think a short 2-3 word instruction would be much better because as it is, when it won’t understand, it gets incredibly annoying to have to repeat the same line several times. Last on Alexa, I really hate that, no matter how low I talk to my Echo dot, the cube always responds about 50 ft away, even when my dot is listening and responding.I got the Pet Care subscription hoping to see video history of my cats, but paying for it made absolutely no difference in my app. I could never see any video, no history, no nothing. I was offered to request technical assistance when I tried to cancel for the first time, but I did not receive a response for a while. I ended up canceling but they actually hooked me up with another subscription to try, which now works perfectly. At first I thought that this was way overpriced because it needed a lot more development, but with the improvements I’ve seen and the attention I have received from the company looking into each and every one of my complaints/problems, I’m really happy I got this. I really love being able to keep an eye on the cats when I’m away, and seeing that the cube gives them some fun time on it’s own is fantastic. The Alexa thing is really the only thing that bothers me at this point, but I love this product.

Camera works well. The night vision works surprisingly REALLY well!
We like the laser feature, but we don’t use it as much as I expected to when we’re not home (feels like teasing them). But it works exactly as advertised. The wide angle camera captures the whole living room and you can always check in on the camera. The pet detection works great and we get some great videos out of it when we’re not home. They also do a little dairy of best moments everyday which we love.

This is the best pet cam with lazer game on the market. Itâs well built and works great. The picture quality is the best Iâve found, my cat loves it, when weâre away on trips I log on and the chime that plays on his end always brings him to the room fir another round of laser pointer. Itâs easy to play and gives him some much needed mental and physical stimulation. I also love the fact I can turn on my apple home pod to play some relaxing music remotely with the voice over. It gives him even more stimulation while weâre away for days on end. Definitely a much needed interface for me and my little guy while weâre away.

Edited ReviewAfter initial review, Petcube Customer Support Team reached out to try to resolve my previous issues.I received a new unit and the 2 way audio problem was resolved. This unit was also better at pick up meows but it is still not 10% consistent.Motion pick up was also much better in the new unit.Overall, the new unit works great. If you have issues with your Petcube, reach out to their customer support and they will help you resolve your issues.ââââââââââââââââInitial ReviewI bought this camera for two reasons: 1) ability identifying pet sounds such as meows and barks and 2) laser play.I was very disappointed with its functionality.Of all my videos – 1 week worth of videos, only 2 videos are identified as with meow. I have videos that have clear loud meows in the video but the pet cube is not picking it up at all.In terms of motion detection it can be a complete hit and miss. Sometimes I can see a clip where my cat is in one part of the room and walk and clip cuts off and doesnât keep recording after the initial 30 seconds. In terms of audio, after 7 days the audio function stopped working. There is no audio in live stream or in recorded videos. For a $250 âpetâ camera, it is less reliable than a $50 Wyze or Blink Camera.Product will be returned.

The laser feature is why I got the product however, I ended up seeing that it got activated very randomly and was difficult to properly use on the app. The camera does not rotate.

It does everything as advertised, however, it is very, very inconsistent. Sometimes the voice audio works, sometimes it decided not to. Similar to the laser. Sometimes it works, sometimes you have to close and open the app several times for it to work. Not sure if I could justify the $230 spent on this.

Video quality is pretty bad. The connection is not good either. Effectively it only works ok when I am at home with super fast wi-fi. There is a lag with the red dot and when I use the camera from work or just on phone network, video feed freezes after several seconds. The software is laggy. In automatic mode, laser toy works very haphazardously. Finally, it echoes your own voice pretty badly. Not worth the money.
