Effective
We really wanted to try this fence because of its versatility. The device itself was very easy to charge and to set up. The connection to the app and wifi were simple. Still, it did take some tweaking to make it so there weren’t as many false alerts. A wifi extender also really helped to make sure the collar stayed online. Our medium sized dog has adjusted really well and has already become better familiar with his boundaries. I liked that the collar is so flexible, allowing the band to be adjusted as needed.

To reiterate – MOST other reviews – including those on the Petsafe website are paid reviews. This one is not, and is a real life review of this product.We received it and immediately set up the boundaries. That was easy. We did notice that our dog would get false boundary alerts around large metal objects (such as a vehicle). We thought it was going to work out well for us.Then precisely 24 hours later we started having problems. The main unit disconnected from our WIFI, rendering the collar useless. Every other wifi enabled device in the house was working fine. I reconnected it to our wifi, scratching my head as to why it randomly forgot our wifi settings. Once that was completed the collar just continuously flashes yellow, indicating it is disconnected from the main unit. This system is not ready for prime time – itâs a prototype at best. Keep looking. Already set up my Amazon return. We will likely get the halo system.

Awesome upgrade for me!
So far we love this new collar. Our dog is 2 years old and for the past year we have used the basic Petsafe wireless fence with the circular boundary (radius). Our dog is used to that and does great with it. The problem is, our dog will not leave our chickens alone, and during gardening season she is constantly trekking through our garden beds. We LOVE that we can draw a boundary around our yard, excluding the chicken coop/run area and the garden areas. She now has more freedom to roam more of the yard, and we can keep our sanity knowing that she will stop harassing the chickens and trampling our gardens. It is a win-win. If you have a larger circular, oval, or square shaped yard the basic wireless fence model will do, but if you do not have a uniformly shaped yard, or you want to keep your dog out of certain parts of your yard, I recommend trying this upgraded model!

Works Sometimes
The setup was quite easy that was not the issue, but the unit was disconnecting from the Wifi which was crazy to me given that the front yard distance from the main router was within the range they suggested. To go even further, I added a repeater just to extend the connection but it dropped again. I think the unit doesn;’t work very well on 5G and up network. I know of many devices like that and think this could be it too. The size of the unit was what we expected. The setup was way easier compared to another one we got. The battery life most likely would have lasted quite some time but sadly the disconnect was a risk for us.

GPS is Hit and Miss
The GPS is hit and miss, and seemed to have about a good 15ft or greater margin of error when I was testing it out. No way I’m going to confuse my dog with an invisible fence that randomly gets closer/farther away. I’m sending it back.

Love this collar! It is extremely well made. Super easy to set up and install. Love that the is a base for it to help with the process. My dog has had absolutely no issues with it, and it has made it so nice. It is not an extremely large collar, so it is comfortable for my dog. It works as it should.
