Product is Great and Easy! Training Cats is Not!
I waited to write this review until I had used it a few months and had the cats trained so I could write an honest in-depth review. First off, I spent hours looking for the right collars before I bought these and I’m glad I settled on this specific product. The product itself is super high quality and works exactly as advertised. The collars fit our cats great and worked perfectly to keep them in our yard and away from the busy street. Here is the breakdown:Install:-All high quality parts and instructions were clear but digging 300ft absolutely is awful. Expect to spend a whole weekend doing this.TIP- Rent a large edger from Homedepot to cut the trench. The handheld ones just don’t make a wide or deep enough cut, and recruit a friend to help.Trianing:-Cats are not dogs. Your would think this is obvious but their ability to climb vertically and their fierce stubbornness makes training hard. It took me a month doing an hour or two a day until they got it. They got shocked a lot but it was worth it in the end. You have to be outside with them while they are learning. The cats will hit the line, get shocked, front Nina flip over the electric fence and you have to watch this happen, go grab them, move them back on the correct side and repeat over and over for a month doing an hour or so a day until it clicks.Tips: teach them in a fenced in part of the yard if possible. This takes their ability to jump and climb out of the learning curve and gives them a strong visual indicator of where their limit line is. I had them only in the fenced in back yard for a few weeks until I tried the front yard where only the little flags marked the line. The flags really don’t mean anything to the cats if the sound and shock is not already associated in their minds. A big visual like the fence helped learning a lot. Next tip, the collars loosen a lot once the cats where them for a few hours. You need to keep tightening them each day until they are broken in or no correction is being received. My last training tip is, turn them to the max shock setting. I found the cats simply didn’t care enough to stay in the yard unless they got the full charge. Little shocks they ignored and my hesitation to go full shock delayed training for at least a week.

    Had a little issue
Amazon fixed the issue. I have an in ground fence for the stubborn dog collar. This one did not pick ip well to that fence. Maybe it was my fence but it didnt work for me. The stubborn dog collars work well and warns the dogs nearly 8 feet away before shock.

    So far, so good!
Just a forewarning – this definitely requires manual labor. Looking back, it was easy enough to install; however, it does take a good amount of labor. I followed other people’s advice in the reviews and used an edger to create an initial trench in the ground and then used a flathead screwdriver to make a better space for the wire. Now that it’s installed and we are utilizing it, I absolutely love it. I’m sitting outside with my cat, who is loving exploring! She has been watching my dogs outside longingly and is absolutely enjoying having freedom with them. I will update in the future if anything does seem to fail or go wrong, but as for now, we’re loving it!

    Great Customer Service
Purchased in July 2024. I did all the required training exercises with my cat, Miso, extremely doubtful that this whole set-up would work or that she would respond to it correctly. I mean, how do you train a cat?? But it did work, and it didn’t take as long as the instructions warn you it might. This product made it possible for our outdoors-loving cat to enjoy being outside with us or without us and really improved life for us when grandkids are running in and out of the house all the time. After about 2 months we started seeing our cat somehow escape the boundary. It was inconsistent, but we live next to our HOA president whose wife has birdfeeders (and MIso can catch birds like nobody’s business) so we had to do something. I talked to Isaac at customer support and he was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. He sent us some diagnostic tools to figure out if the problem was in our line or with the collar.A word about electric fences: you do have to bury the line properly and ensure that it has not been damaged in the process or you will not be able to get the fence to work as it is designed. Getting a new cat collar will do nothing to help if there is damage to the line. Electric cat fences are great, but their function doesn’t just depend on the integrity of the more complex electrical components.I did find out that we had a boundary setting off and I fixed that. But we continued to have problems with occasional cat escapes. I could tell that Miso was very obedient when she heard the electronic warning signal, so it wasn’t her training. Somehow, she was just wandering off either through a damaged line spot or without getting any signal at all. We tested batteries, tried new batteries, and finally realized that the collar was occasionally malfunctioning. When I called back a second time, Isaac was again very helpful and got a new collar in the mail to us right away. He also registered our warranty, which we had neglected to do.By the very nature of the technology and how that works with differing personalities of cats there are bound to be difficulties getting the whole system to work reliably. But if you buy from a company that stands behind its product with great customer service you are much more likely to have success. Miso can still catch the occasional rodent trying to undermine our foundation, but her impact on the bird population has been significantly curtailed.

My cat is an escape artist – she will hide somewhere around the entrance door when she knows that someone is about to open it – and dashes out the second the door opens. Watching out for her only took us so far – she would regularly escape, not get into too much trouble for some time – as she stayed in our front yard, so there was almost no danger of being eaten by coyotes or getting hit by cars that are a risk in our area.Still one time she escaped, ate something that didn’t agree with her, and nearly died of viral pneumonia that was caused by the excessive puking. That’s when I decided to give this system a try – I am not a fan of the idea of shocking pets at all, but it’s the lesser of two evils.I read pages of reviews – and found the two pieces of advice most helpful – read the manual carefully – the box doesn’t contain it, unfortunately, so I went on the manufacturer’s website and got a copy. Test the shock level on yourself first – and set it to somewhere that is painful, yet not too harsh. Adjust later if the level won’t deter your pet from going into the “no go” area.I had the system for a month now – our escape artist keeps a respectful distance from the door – glaring at us with accusing looks. We haven’t tried switching to just sound signal yet – as she made one escape recently – dashed through the door that was left open for a while. But it sounds like one can go to the option of no shock sooner in case of less stubborn pets.I would definitely recommend the system to all fellow escape artists pets owners! (And good luck with catching your pet to put the collar on them daily!)
