The PetSafe KeepSafe Break-Away Collar is designed to allow your dog to play and explore safely. The risk of dangerous collar accidents with traditional collars is higher than many owners realize. When a dog’s collar becomes snagged on an object such as a fence, kennel, branch or even the teeth of a canine playmate, the results can be tragic. A snagged collar can result in injury, strangulation or even death. The KeepSafe collar minimizes the risk of such accidents because its patented break-away buckle is designed to harmlessly separate when the nylon collar becomes snagged. The KeepSafe collar can literally be a lifesaver for your best friend!

Nibbler’s Lifesaver Collar
A Tail-Wagging TriumphHi there, I’m Nibbler, and I’ve got a story to share about my new favorite accessory: the PetSafe KeepSafe Break-Away Collar. Let me tell you, this collar is more than just a fashion statement â it’s a lifesaver, literally! It all started one day when my pup brother, Bender, and I were playing around like we always do. Suddenly, disaster struck â Bender’s tooth got stuck in my old collar, and we couldn’t get loose. We were both scared and confused. Despite some serious work from our mom to free Bender’s tooth from the collar, it wouldn’t budge! Then mom tried to take my collar off but with Bender going crazy trying to free his tooth, it was really hard but mom was finally successful. It was a scary experience that left all of us shaken. After that terrifying incident, our mom decided that safety was the top priority. That’s when she found the PetSafe KeepSafe Break-Away Collar, and let me tell you, it’s been a game-changer ever since. The best thing about this collar is its break-away design. If Bender or I ever find ourselves in a sticky situation again, the collar releases with a gentle tug, ensuring that we can escape safely without any harm. It’s like having a guardian angel watching over us wherever we go, giving our mom peace of mind and allowing us to play and explore without any worries. Not only is this collar incredibly safe, but it’s also super comfortable to wear. The soft material feels gentle against my fur, and the adjustable fit ensures that it’s just the right size for both Bender and me. Plus, the bright colors make us stand out in a crowd, so we always look stylish and ready for adventure. But perhaps the best part of all is the love and care that went into choosing this collar for us. Our mom wants nothing but the best for us, and seeing her take proactive steps to keep us safe fills my doggy heart with joy.In conclusion, the PetSafe KeepSafe Break-Away Collar is more than just a collar â it’s a symbol of love, safety, and the unbreakable bond between humans and their furry friends. Thank you, PetSafe, for creating a product that gives us dogs the freedom to play and explore while keeping us safe from harm. Woof woof for safety!

Potentially live-saving collar for dogs playing together or unsupervised
This is the only dog breakaway collar out there as far as I can tell, even though breakaway is the standard for cats, for good reason. I’ve used it and it works well. Doesn’t pop open too easily, takes a firm pull. Soft nylon is durable and comfortable for the dog. When dogs play together they often mouth on each other’s necks. Back in my dog daycare employee days I saw multiple instances of mouths getting stuck in collars and it is a very alarming and dangerous emergency as the dogs panic as one strangles and the other’s mouth gets injured and it can be very difficult to get the now-extremely-tight, tangled collar off a panicked moving target of two lurching dogs who may bite out of fear, even if you keep medical safety-tipped scissors on hand to cut collars off.And if you leave your dog(s) alone, you won’t be there to save them if they get tangled/caught on something or each other.I also saw an impalement injury from a dog’s collar getting caught on a metal wire dog crate and the dog yanking so hard the crate broke apart and a thin metal bar punctured the dog’s body.I’ve also heard of strangulation deaths of crated dogs getting their collars caught. (If you don’t use a breakaway collar, please remove your dog’s collar when crated!)I’ve read repeatedly that Robin Bennett and The Dog Gurus, dog daycare experts, strongly recommend that off-leash playgroups either have the dogs wear no collar or break-away collars. The collar can be used with a leash if you hook the leash to BOTH loops, so if it opens, it won’t open very far. But I walk dogs on front-clip harnesses to protect their airway and to reduce pulling. My use of a collar is to have ID/Rabies/License & nighttime light-up tags on the dog and to have a way to grab the dog if needed. I also keep a slip-lead handy in case I need to grab a dog in my care, since if the dog resists moving in the direction I’m guiding it, the breakaway collar may come off.I do worry a bit that if a dog in my care were to escape and be found by a neighbor they won’t realize the collar will come off if they try to use it to gain control of the dog. So I had tags engraved that say “Breakaway Collar DON’T PULL! Use BOTH loops” on one side and say “REWARD!” with our mobile numbers on the other side. But I take a lot of steps to keep escapes risks low. And I figure if the collar comes off there’s still their microchip, emailing the neighborhood on Nextdoor, flyering, etc.I board dogs in my home and feel it would be irresponsible to risk injuries/death that I’ve been educated about over and over. So I’ve moved on from the really cute printed fashion collars to the solid colored ones that will keep the dogs safe.

Saved our dog from injury!!
We were on vacation this week with our dogs being home alone most of the time. One is younger and they like to play so I wanted them to have a breakaway collar just in case- not really thinking it would be needed but to give peace of mind. At some point while we were gone, our dogs were playing and our older dogs teeth got caught in our younger ones breakaway collar. IT BROKE AWAY!!! I am so thankful I had these for them as nobody was home and nobody would be by to check on them for another few hours. Will definitely only be using breakaways from now on! For reference, I have a 60 pound blue heeler and we got her the medium and it fits well, she is a little thicker in the neck area. We got the small for our 35 pound blue heeler who is a more athletic build. Get them, it could save your dogs life or serious injuries!!

bulky but safe
the reason for my purchase is because my 7 month old dachshund had an accident in which her collar got stuck on a storage cart with wheels and ended up hanging from it. due to her collar being so tight, she nearly choked to death as we tried to release her from it. it got to the point that her tongue was sticking out and her breaths were shallow, scariest moment weâve ever had to go through. after this i decided to get her a break away collar. i honestly think its way too bulky for my dachshund and the smallest collar is still a little too big for her despite tightening it as much as possible but itâs what iâm sticking with for her safety. seems like great quality and very sturdy.

Piece of mind for my working dogs in the paddock if they get hooked up

Pros:- Side release buckle makes removing the collar easy without needing to mess with the breakaway or loosen to slip off. Even though this is a breakaway collar, it’s never safe to crate a dog with a collar on so it’s fast to pop on and off.- Additional tag attachment point separate from d-rings. Placing tags on the same point that you attach the leash isn’t safe (risk of accidentally attaching your leash to the tag’s split ring and then your dog breaking free tagless) so this makes walking safe if you choose to use this collar for walks as well.- All brass hardware (excluding the buckle). Brass is stronger than nickel.- High quality webbing & vivid colour.- Breakaway only opens when decent pressure is placed on the collar, so you can quickly grab the collar without worry of the breakaway opening.Cons:- Only comes in a 1″ width. This is fine for small & medium dogs, but dogs large and up should really only have a 1.25″+ width if the collar is to be used for walking. I have a Great Dane, and we just use this collar for tags.- Limited colour selectionOverall:I would buy this product again and will be purchasing another for my other dog. Would also recommend to my friends or people I know in the dog industry.

After reading of dogs bring injured, or worse, from getting a standard collar trapped I ordered this. I wasn’t sure initially if I had bought the right size, but it was perfect, and relatively easy to adjust. Works well, but just need to remember to hold both loops if the dog isn’t on the lead, to prevent him breaking free! Good quality, good service and prompt delivery
