Great travel cage
Very happy with this purchase, it’s a great travel cage. Definitely planning on getting another for our other birdPros:- quick and easy to put together- very sturdy feeling- food and water bowls have little ledges above them to prevent them getting dislodged- great amount of space for a bird, it feels a bit excessive for our lovebirds but that’s great- big door makes it very easy to get the bird in, if you’re toweling them- seat belt strap is appreciated for security (it ended up kind of between seats in my car, so it wobbled a bit during driving)Minor cons:- packaging came in styrofoam that ended up leaving little bits across parts, I would have appreciated some other material for the bird’s sake- from the vet side, they said the big door makes it harder for them to reach in and grab them without them flying out, but they still handled it great

Very sturdy cage
This is a very well constructed cage. Very easy to assemble (directions included) , requires no tools to assemble. Includes two stainless steel bowls (not flimsy) that attach to brackets on one side of the cage wall, a rope perch (easy on birdie feet), and a strong metal handle with a wooden perch on top. It is small and meant as a travel cage. We are using it as a sleeping cage only, since his big cage is in our family room where we watch TV in the evening. We put this cage in another room on the other side of the house to avoid the distraction of TV noise. The only somewhat negative thing is that the cage is a bit heavy (14 pounds), but that is really not an issue for us because it stays in one place and I am not carrying it around. If you plan to use it for traveling in your car, it has two strong attached brackets to secure it with a seat belt (another nice feature).

Sturdier than you’d think and my bird LOVES it!
We travel with our Senegal parrot quite a bit in our horse trailer (with full RV living quarters for the humans!). I’d been using a modified budgie cage in the horse trailer with a dedicated place for it, but when Kiwi chewed his way through his travel carrier that we use for being in the car and going to appointments, I needed to find something better. I was halfway looking for something that would serve a dual purpose as both a travel carrier and a travel cage, and happened to stumble across this here on Amazon. I looked at so many different options for carriers and cages that I was waffling a lot – until I found this.It arrived very quickly. It was packaged nicely and all of the components were included (YAY!). I was able to assemble it completely by myself in about 15 minutes (which includes the amount of time I spent reviewing the instructions). I was skeptical at first because the panels kind of slide in place, which didn’t seem very reliable to me, but once the top went on and the screws were tightened – well, this thing is a beast. Yes, it’s heavy. That means transporting between the vehicle and the place the cage will be housed while we travel can be a bit challenging, not because of difficulty, but because of weight and size. However, this thing is so substantial that it totally negates that (incredibly minor) inconvenience.I found some cage liner papers that fit perfectly in the bottom tray here on Amazon, so that helped to make clean up super easy. Additionally, I also purchased a mesh seed guard that fits around the cage perfectly, and I highly recommend the addition of this when using this as both a travel carrier and a travel cage. My bird is on the smaller side, but if he’s hanging on the side of the cage and decides to relieve himself, there’s all kinds of potential for poop and food to make their way outside of the confines of the cage. The seed guard I found pretty much covers the entirely of the cage walls, so it was a perfect fit (NOTE TO THE MANUFACTURER: You might want to find a source for those and include them with these cages as I firmly believe it’s necessary and worthwhile to have this accessory).I did find that the swing tab that’s supposed to help keep the bottom cage grate and the tray in place works 1,000 times better if you slightly pull out the swing tab so that both are locked in place, otherwise, it’s too easy for the cage grate to move around. That’s the only improvement that I’d suggest to the manufacturer as far as the build and design of the cage is concerned; you really don’t want either to come out easily when you’re moving and transporting the cage and your bird.As far as my parrot is concerned, he absolutely LOVES this cage, and was far more active and engaged in it. Senegals love to hang upside down from the top of their cages and swing like bats (Kiwi does this and yells, “WHEEEEEEEEEE!!!” as he’s doing it), and the way this cage is constructed, he was able to swing like a bat (ha ha ha) to his heart’s content. It’s large enough that I was able to put an actual swing in the cage, and found a fun, destructible bird activity wall to hang on the back wall and provide enrichment activity. There is also room for a few other small toys and perches. It’s roomier than it appears just based on measurements, but once you have it in front of you and assembled, it was the perfect size for my parrot. This may be too small for larger birds to use as an actual travel cage, but it definitely has room enough to be used as a travel carrier for large bird. The access door takes up one end of the cage and is quite large ; the safety latch is strong and too complicated for most birds to open (plus, it’d be very difficult to fully access it from inside the cage). The food and water bowl access doors are nice, I love the way they’re designed as they prevent overly exuberant birds from being able to nip at human hands while changing food and water. One of the latches on one of my doors sticks oddly, but if I push the latch from the opposite end, it opens right up. This isn’t enough of an issue to return the item (at all), and I’m happy to live with it as-is.Overall, it serves two purposes for us and is a heavy duty travel carrier and travel cage. My bird had a blast in it, and all of the necessary access points were well thought out and executed. The seat belt frames for securing it are nice and secure (I wasn’t able to use them as intended due to the way we all travel), but I was able to secure the cage in an alternate manner. This was a fantastic purchase for the price, and I’d highly recommend this to anyone looking for a travel carrier, a travel cage – or both!

Great for cockatiel
I was anxious to see whether this cage would work for a cockatiel, since I mostly see pictures of conures and lovebirds in reviews of this item, but Iâm pleased to inform that it works like a charm! Completely exceeded my expectations. It was easy to put together. The only problem I had was with the screws that keep the handle attached to the cage, but I eventually figured out a way to get them on. Itâs very sturdy and not too heavy. My cockatiel normally doesnât enjoy sitting on perches outside of his cage and would rather be on my shoulder. He seems pretty comfortable with the handle/perch though which I wasnât expecting. The bowls are a bit big for a cockatiel, but heâs still able to eat and drink by sitting on the rim of the bowls. I got this for a trip by car, but it could also work for when Iâm studying in a different room and he doesnât want to be alone. I canât vouch for how it works on a flight but it definitely works for a road trip. Overall Iâd say itâs perfect for travel and a good short term cage if you have a cockatiel. Donât leave them in there for too long though if you can help it. Its still way too small to be a permanent cage.
