MY dog likes the food, he is doing well with Purina One Chicken and Rice
We started feeding our dog Purina about a week ago, before he was being fed the Costco bran food. The big dog likes this food, he is digesting the food well. He is eating about 2 cups twice a day. The food looks clean and smells good. The package arrived fast, and in good conditions. I will check back in 3 months to see if his fur look healthier.

Grain or no grain?
There is some evidence that some dogs are not doing well on the no-grain diet. I figured rice, as a neutral, usually non-allergenic grain would be ok for my standard poodle and she eats this with no digestive problems. I don’t think she likes it as well as a sweet potato-turkey food (probably has a sweeter taste and my dog loves sweets.) So your dog may not accept this. Nor do I like the kibble–it’s kind of a flaky shape and not a nugget.
So will work for tiny dogs that can’t eat big chunks.
Seems to be a good food and she is doing well. I’m not sure why ‘no-grain’ has caused problems.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration thinks there may be a link to canine dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) and certain breeds are more susceptible:
Retriever
Boxer
Chinese Shar-Pei
Cocker Spaniel
Collie,
Dachshund
Dalmatian
Lhasa Apso
Miniature Schnauzer
Soft Coated Wheaton Terrier
Springer Spaniel
West Highland White Terrier
If your dog doesn’t show signs of allergy, then single grain may be the way to go; some vets are opposed to grain-free because of the risk of DCM. No one seems to know why some dogs may have gotten sick on grain-free foods; my guess is that the legumes in some recipes ( peas, chickpeas, lentils, soybeans) have hemagglutinins that affect the blood and cause cardiac issues over time. There were some papers years ago about antibodies in heart patients reacting to hemagglutins (back when I was in grad school for immunology in the seventies) so it’s possible that cardiomyopathy in dogs has a similar etiology. We’ll see.
