Love this stuff
I have a boa and a ball python. Both have pretty big cages. I know snakes can be fine in smaller spaces and probably like the feeling of safety in smaller spaces, but I think if you give them the space then they will appreciate it. Therefore, this stuff is great. Enough in the block for multiple cleanings. Good amount for the price. Some of the big name beddings come with half if not a quarter of the amount for the same price. Holds moisture great and keeps humidity in the cages great.

Great for the price.
Great for the price but had feathers and sunflower seeds in it. I recommend it, just pick out the extras. My sulcata tortoise loves it. Threw some hay on top after the pictures. Really holds humidity which helps prevents pyramiding with this breed. Great for digging. Easy to clean.

Works great for beardie vivarium base
More than I expected. I use this under reptisoil in my bearded dragonâs vivarium. It helps to give the depth his plants need, and holds the moisture their roots need. Thereâs also a layer of leaf litter for the isopods to chill in on top of everything else. Iâve read concerns that a beardie will eat this stuff, but so far (3 months) no issues, and the plants are doing amazing.

Perfect substrate
Bought this as a substrate for a ball python in a 40 gallon breeder tank. First of all, there was more than enough to give several inches of cover on the bottom of her tank. It was very compressed, and I had to pretty much break it off in chunks. It looks to be good quality and free from foreign objects and pests. After hydrating, it broke apart much more easily and looked great! However, our BP is a princess and hated it. She refused to move or go into her hide and hid in a corner for three days. We ended up having to mix coconut fiber in with the husk like we have in the past and then she was just fine. Alone, it does not hold moisture well or for very long but mixing in the coconut fiber refit helps with that. I highly recommend this substrate for quality, value for your money, and asthetics.

Rocks and trash inside, made my snake sick
Safe to say I’ll never buy this or any other substrate from this company again. Super disappointing and irritating.
My usual brand had been sold out when I went to buy fresh substrate for my 3 ball python tanks, so I decided to give this a go and take chunks from the block as I cleaned each tank. Very glad I did as I found two rocks and a number of trash (nylon, ties, weird plastic stuff) as I sifted through. The substrate itself is fine, nice big chunks with little dust, but the amount of junk I saw while going through it makes me uneasy about its cleanliness, especially with mites…I’d give it 5 stars if it weren’t for the weird garbage inside, especially since it was the perfect amount for 3 tanks (30ish gallons each, my girls are pretty young atm).UPDATE: Within 3 weeks of the new substrate, one of my snakes got scale rot all along her sides and belly. I regularly spot clean and she’s never had any issues. She’s been stuck in a sad quarantine enclosure for a month now since I’m waiting for her to shed again. She had a shed about a week or two on the new substrate, so take that as you will… she’s been super stressed because the blisters hurt and it took me two weeks to get her somewhat comfortable. I should’ve trusted my gut when I saw the trash inside
