Great Resource For Learning About Wildlife!
I bought these as teaching aids to help my kids learn about different animals. Concepts are so much easier for them to grasp if they can hold and play with the animals they’re leaning about, rather than just reading about them in a book. The animals are well crafted, the pieces have been nicely painted and they’re fairly detailed which helps them look more realistic. They also have their names on the underside in case you need help identifying what they are. Most of the pieces in this set stand up on their own fairly well, although some are a little wobbly.The only thing I find a little cumbersome is the tube itself. While it’s great for storing, it’s compact size and odd shape makes it difficult to get the animals in and out – the rope handle also seems to get in the way. Other than the somewhat troublesome tube, the animals in this set are great and I will definitely be buying more of these collections.

Love Safari LTD TOOBS in Play School
I Like the Safari LTD Toobs. We had borrowed one for our Play School of 3-4 year olds last year (Arctic) and invented many circle time activities with it. The children are so proud of themselves learning all the animals names. We adapt songs, and games to play centered around the animals. This year we added the North American Animals and will be adding a few more as budget allows. They are a good size to add to our train table scenes throughout the year. One of our favorite games with Arctic was to pass around a mitten as each child put in their figure and we sang a song ” The Arctic Fox goes in the mittenâ¦etc. We also used them in our “Mystery Box”. As we passed a box around and sang “What is in the Mystery Box” each child pulled an animal outâ¦We then went around and asked them what they had and learned a bit about each animalâ¦so many possibilities with these. The value of these for the quality and amount of play we get from them is high. For the North American Animals, I will have to think what we can pull them out off, as the Mitten was for the cold⦠I have some small green burlap bags that I could simply draw tree outlines on⦠I cannot wait to start using these. As a note⦠we don’t concern ourselves so much with proper proportion size at ages 3-4â¦the kids are paying attention to the animal and we talk about where they live, what they eat, what color they are, what kind of coat they haveâ¦so many thingsâ¦They are not thinking about whether or not proportions are correctâ¦we use other activities for size differences.

Some useful as Table Top Gaming minis
I mainly wanted the Elk to use to represent a character’s mount in a Dungeons and Dragons table top role-playing game.The Elk is roughly the appropriate size to use with the actual DnD and similar gaming miniatures.Not all of the animal figures in the set are in the same *scale*, though they are roughly the same *size* to allow them to each fit well in a child’s hands.So, as toys they look reasonably realistic to the natural animals, but they are not designed as scale miniatures, though some might use them that way. You might want to pretend your Druid rides a giant racoon, for example.

Realistic, affordable, Safari LTD Toobs are the best!
We LOVE Safari LTD Toobs. We use them in the classroom for Montessori-style hands-on activities. They work well for a lot of things, like matching to three-part cards, and discussing characteristics, but they are also a fun toy for kids to use in imaginative play, sensory bins, and the like.The Toobs always have realistic animals, so any pictures you find online will look very similar to the toy. These are the most affordable, realistic option we’ve found for hands-on learners.

Bought these for a habitat diorama my 2nd grader made for school. He chose the Rocky Mountains as his habitat, and these animals were perfect to complete the project. They’re quite detailed and appear realistic, and are sturdy. Would be fun as toys too.

Our Forest Toob arrived promptly and contains pretty much all the animals listed in the description on the Amazon site: raccoon, mountain lion, white wolf, mountain goat, grizzly bear, river otter, elk, moose, beaver, bison, pronghorn and big horn ram. Perhaps would have been good to have a bird in the selection as well, but it’s a big ask to squeeze all creatures from a forest habitat into a single little tube.The figures are only 5-7 cm big, but the level of detail, even footprints, is great. All fit back into the tube, and the tube’s lid has a little clasp, which is very useful – I lost count of lost plastic lids from other miniature tubes.I bought these for my 3.5 year old boy to play with and to study animals of North America. Not all of these are exclusive to North America, though, many are also native in Europe, so will be able to reuse. All in all, very happy with a purchase.
