Surprising Effect!
So initially I installed this in my son’s 10 gallon fish tank. It had WAY too powerful filtration…if you look it has a 10 watt pump which is in the range of 200gph filtration. So I took it out and went back to the hang on the tank filter.With 2 goldfish and 2 minnows in a 10 gallon tank, I eventually had an algae problem. I was replacing HOB filters clogged with algae every couple days and the water was still murky and algae out of control!I really didn’t want to resort to chemical algecide on account of a fish kill incident early on in my learning about fish tanks. So I adapted some irrigation hose to make a diffuser for this pump’s output and removed the sponge inlet filter (not recommended) just to see if the UV could help.I had it on for about 1/2 hour, and the fish were constantly freaking out. Also, I noticed the water had become more cloudy with lots of micro bubbles (Ozone?). I turned it off to calms the fish and just went back to depending on the HOB filter.Well, that was Friday, and watching the tank over the past couple days wondering what to do it has progressively gotten clearer like magic. Today (Sunday night) the water is crystal clear!!I think that in the 1/2 hour this filter ran, the UV light directly sterilized or added enough Ozone to completely kill the algae. Amazing!So for the videos that show how clear it gets over a few days…..it MIGHT actually do that even if it only runs for a little bit on day 1….. the rest may be overkill….in any case, extremely effective.

Perfect for removing algae
I have a 55 gallon freshwater and after cleaning it was very green. Probably moved all the algae up from the rock. Who knows.After 3 days of using this in the tank, it is now crystal clear.Works perfect.

UV light
This uv light has worked very well in my 75 gallon aquarium, I was dealing with cloudy water on a regular basis and it cleared it up in 2 days, also you can replace the uv light for around $22 when needed you don’t need to buy a new unit

I purchased this 3 weeks ago and am extremely happy with how well it worked, I have well water that gets cloudy and green pretty quick after water changes even with chemical treatment, this UV filter had the water crystal clear within a week in a 40 gal tank and it has maintained the clarity. There are two reasons I did not give it 5 stars, first being the flow rate is not adjustable and it has a pretty strong flow, second, I have a lot of live plants and debris will get in the inlet area of the filter, if I shut the pump off to clean the filter the debris releases into the tank, I found I have to put a large net over it when turning off the pump. It is very quiet, hardly any noise. If they upgrade this with an adjustable flow it would be a definite 5+ star

happy to let down
This item worked well but for a very brief period. After about a month and cleaning the filter sp[onges, etc.], the filtration system now makes noise 24/7, and the airflow is slow to the point that I can blow bubbles in the water faster than this filter’s output. The blue light also stopped working within three weeks of using it.I have had pet fish for nearly 35 years and have tried dozens of different filtration systems. I like this airflow and filtration style most, but this specific model did not have long-lasting quality. It lasted just enough time that the option to return it expired. Good luck!

Wow! Son wanted another filter for tank and did his research well. Second day and it was clear! Really like it! The water flow was too strong for our angelfish so have that part off. Really like it so far

Powerful
I have a 45 tall and hate the over the side filters. Theyâre so loud and I hate the sound of splashing water so I caved and got this one. This thing is super strong. It will be okay for my tank because thereâs just guppies, but thereâs lots of water movement. Plan accordingly. Even changing if itâs on the length or width side didnât do anything. Itâs just so powerful. Iâm going to need to make a water break or something just so thereâs some calm area. Itâs pretty quiet but I added the bubbler and thatâs whatâs loud. Apparently it doesnât pull in the air at a constant speed so it âcrackles.â Iâll probably remove that part if it continues to be loud. Itâs been 2 hours and my tank is still dirty but thereâs so much water movement now so itâs probably just kicking up everything that was settled. The instructions do say it can take a week to clear completely. Iâm giving it a chance but if its not better in a week then I will update.

I have a bad habit of overfeeding my fish and I’m not going to lie I was a little skeptical about it working and delayed installing it for a month, but my tank was getting quite dirty and cloudy, so I did a 40% water change and added just this filter and a week later the water is still as clear as when I changed it. I love it and I’ve ordered a second one for my other tank. I will post before and after photo reviews when I receive it.**Update. I bought this filter as I have an algea/bacterial bloom and undersand the UV light might help. As others reviewed, its not a very complicated piece of equipment, there is a plug for the pump and seperate a plug for the light. I removed a star so far as the cords are short, with my aquarium on a stand, they barely reach the power bar. The jet at the lowest level is too powerful for my 55 gallon, I would argue for even a bigger aquarium. I would not leave it on all the time but if it helps with my bacterial bloom, I will keep it for when I need it.
