Pets crave a place to call their own – so why are so many cat carriers essentially dog crates scaled down? The Kitty City Extra Large Cat Carrier solves the problem with a design focused on keeping cats calm and collected while they’re on the go, all while being simple to assemble and stow for you. It has a sturdy plastic and metal build, with a metal gate that stays securely shut, yet opens easily for you with a single-motion door lock. With the sides folded, it stores compactly on a shelf in your closet but assembles in a jiffy whenever you need it. Better yet, the unique tent-like shape creates a naturally cozy haven for your cat – all with plenty of grills and vents on all sides so that your pet can feel comfortable surveying her surroundings. It’s easy to clean once the trip is over thanks to the door’s wide design. Plus comfort grip handles make it a more pleasant experience for you as well. Holds pets up to 35 lbs. All in all, it’s a private portable space that makes travel a breeze for your furry friend.

Exactly what I expected and needed
This is the best carrier I’ve used for our cats, we got a kitten recently and needed something I could easily take both it and our older cat in to the vet. This is so an easy design, set up took seconds and it’s not awkward to carry like those big crates. It’s plastic all the way through so we did put a blanket in the bottom but not actually needed. The gate closes and locks so they can’t get out. The openings in it are wide tho and the kitten was scratching us through it, he thought it was a fun game. It wasn’t lol. It’s stable once it’s snapped together and locked into place and LOVE that it folds up flat for easy storage! So glad we purchased this. For reference one cat is 10lbs and the other is 4lb, plenty of room! Also I have a baby and 8yo in tow so this being light as heck and easy to carry- I’m sold!

Sturdy, Compact, and Easy to Use
I finally decided to get new cat carriers since one is way too small, and the other is too big and held together with zip ties. I also have had a terrible time getting my smaller cat into the small carrier, as unlike her sister, who waltzes in the door willingly, she’s a fighter who wont go down without a fight.
So after this latest cat wrangling experience, I went looking online and found these carriers. Initially I bought two, one regular and one larger XL size, but I could tell just by looking at the size of the box that the XL was WAY too big for my needs. I ended up returning it and eventually bought a second regular.
The regular size is perfect for me, my cats are average sized, with one being a bit heavier than the other, but they both fit comfortably in these carriers. Having a cat bed is also nice, gives a bit of comfort for them while they’re in there, better than the towels I used to put in there that slid around and bunched up.
When folded, the carrier is far more compact than non-folding ones (naturally). This is great since I feel like in most cases, people only break the carrier out for vet trips or if they’re taking a pet on a long trip, so instead of these bulky crates you need to store, you can fold them up and put them in the bottom of a closet
The folding aspect was a strong selling point, however my favorite aspect is the large door. For myself, this makes it far easier to get my escape artist cat into the carrier, as I’m not trying to get her through a little door that she can brace her paws against, and instead I just lower her in and can swing the door up while one hand holds her from jumping out.
Overall I’m a huge fan, and honestly I’m a bit disappointed I have to wait until their next vet appointment to really give these a good use. Maybe I’ll just put them in and walk around the house for a bit, get them used to the carriers.

Spacious kitty carrier
Perfect for an adult cat or 2+ kittens, spacious. Easy-to-assemble (2 minutes) and folds away when not in use. Can be stored under bed, in closet, etc. I would not recommend this carrier for a dog unless it was tiny-it is not sturdy enough. People at the vets liked it especially the ease of opening the front to remove the pet

Fantastic!
tl;dr: The absolute best pet carrier I’ve ever used, out of various styles and sizes. My only regret about this carrier is that I didn’t find it sooner!
PROS:
–Flexible, lightweight plastic. I I initially mistook that for possible flimsiness compared to our rectangular carriers’ hard plastic, but not at all. My cat has been in and out of this carrier repeatedly, logging nearly 3,000 miles in it on several long car trips and further miles on numerous short trips. The carrier’s condition remains as good as when it arrived new.
–Much easier to get my pet in and out, compared to a conventional carrier, even a top-loading one. Less stress on both sides. Unless a grown cat was regularly trained from kittenhood to be used to a carrier, it’s a huge deal not having to fight an adult cat’s natural instincts to resist confinement in a conventional carrier’s design.
–More space and visibility; my cat has plenty of room to stretch out without the larger upper volume and clunkiness of a rectangular carrier, with more light, and he can see out better. Also easier for me to see how he’s doing, even from across a room. The triangle shape made me think it might be more crowded inside, but that’s not the case.
–Easy to carry; I was unsure about this at first, as the different shape and weighting felt new and strange. But after a few trials, I figured out the best way to carry it. It’s like any carrier in that I wouldn’t want to have to lug a cat in it very far on foot, but it’s no more difficult than a rectangular carrier.
–A real space-saver in that it easily folds up when not in use.
CONS:
None for me. I’d buy one again and will do so when our 2nd older carrier can’t be patched together anymore.
POSSIBLE CAVEATS for which I wonder if a conventional, harder-plastic, rectangular carrier might work better (?):
–An unusually combative, terrified animal that is unable to settle down; the carrier’s lighter weight might make it easier for a thrashing animal to knock itself and the carrier over or even pop the door open, I don’t know.
–Public transportation in general, unless the animal is mellow, calm, and unlikely to startle.
–Air travel; I can’t recall from the product description, but I don’t think this meets commercial airline standards for pet-carrier construction.

GREAT! But hard to carry
Truly, this thing is awesome. The big door options make it a breeze to get my cat inside, and itâs sturdy and roomy for him. I love that it folds up and that it sits securely when angled in the car. The only issue is that the handle is small and placed in the center. So it kinda swings him around or bumps him against my leg as Iâm carrying it. Thereâs no easy way to just pick it up and walk with it, without hunching over and torquing your arm. My cat is 24 pounds (!!!) so I need it for the size, but it hurts my back to walk with it so low to my center of gravity. It could use a wider, shoulder strap type adjustment⦠or a wider, angled handle like a baby carrier.

We’ve been using this as the cat’s nighttime bed and he’s used to it.

I have had the big bulky ones and many others but this one is my favourite. It is very light and has decent space for the cat. The frame has metal wire in at the bottom to keep it strong and solid and the side latch is plastic but hard plastic and locks into place quickly and easily, the same for the top latch.
It just folds down and sits in a cupboard until it is needed.

Best cat carrier ever. Canât buy it here in Australia … my veterinarian thought it was great and I got this one for a friend after mine proved such a success. Having the side that opens makes it so much easier to pop a cat in. They are in before they know it! The others Iâve used make it so difficult trying to ram a resistant kitty into a much smaller entry.

These are fantastic. We bought three ( 2 small and 1 large) for our three cats before a cross country move in a smaller car. The cats were napping in these a couple days after we bought them. Very easy to load and unload. Secure when carrying under load and fold up nicely when not in use. Good quality construction and great design. Definitely would reccomend and purchase gain.
