Picky birds only eat half the ingredients.
My two conures LOVED the dried pineapple and papaya, one of them liked one of the nuts (brazil? macadamia?). They refused to touch the raisins and dried peas, which I would say is about 25% of the package. This looked like a premium mix from the packaging, but what I’m left with is a quarter bag of raisins and peas and some peanuts, i.e., very cheap snacks, and the birds don’t want them. Maybe you have less picky birds than I do, but that’s not even the point: I could buy peanuts and raisins separately for much less than the average cost of bird treats. I’ve actually just switched to a human-grade bag of dried pineapple chunks which they are just as excited about, for much less $$ per ounce.
