Effective, Gentle Brush – Also Great for Dogs
This is a well-designed and manufactured mitt brush from Wahl. It’s roomy enough for adult hands, has a convenient hook-and-loop wrist strap to keep it securely fastened and a strap sewn inside the glove into which you slip your fingers for extra control and the ability to flex the brush to fit the contours of your horse (and dog in our case).The bristles are rounded and do not apply uncomfortable pressure to your animal, even when brushing firmly. The multitude of bristles helps to loosen hair that has shed and brush it away from the coat. The low-profile of the bristles makes it easy to clean as well…you won’t get hair trapped at the base of bristles like you would on a traditional longer-bristled brush.It works great on our horses and our black lab will always sit still for it as we brush out her coat, greatly minimizing the amount of hair we’re otherwise cleaning up inside the house. It’s a great brush…no negatives to share (except if you have massive hands, not sure how well this would fit) and I recommend it.

Excellent grooming mitt for a large hand
This is a well-made grooming mitt. The various sizes of bumps on the mitt make it useful for both body grooming and grooming legs and face. It does a good job. I’m used to using the common jelly grooming mitts that have bumps for body and legs on different sides of the mitt. With the Wahl groomer you have the convenience of not having to use different sides to groom the whole body. The Wahl grooming mitt also gives you an extra inch of bumps on each side and an extra half inch on the top and bottom compared to jelly mitts. If you have a small hand and wrist, you’ll find it a bit too large. Even with the elastic strap inside the mitt to slip fingers through, it felt loose. The velcro wrist strap is definitely not sized for a small wrist although I managed to get it fastened despite a lot of overlap. While I very much like the design of the grooming surface, having to fasten it at the wrist means either I use the same hand for both sides of the horse (which I don’t normally) or I have to unfasten and refasten it to switch hands. I think this would be a particularly good mitt for bathing a horse.

Great tool for massaging and bonding with your horse
I often use a mitt on my mules. They love being touched and massaged and I get to keep my hands clean. This mitt is a game changer in our relationship. They obviously love the texture of the mitt and how it feels on their skin. I like that it has a big surface area so I can cover a lot of ground.There is a learning curve to using it. Inside the mitt there is a loop you need to put your hand through so you have some control of the mitt and sometimes when I want to really get into a spot I have to use my fingers to hold the mitt from the inside. I think this concept might work better with a thumb so you would have a bit more control but it’s still a pretty good tool. It’s a better quality than the cheap mitts I usually buy and I am sure it will last longer. Overall, I like the mitt.

Poor fit for small hands makes mitt uncomfortable and ineffective to use.
WAHL’s Professional Animal Equine Grooming Mitt seems to be made of a quality flexible rubber material, but the rest of the mitt seems somewhat thin and I question its longevity. I have smaller hands and find it uncomfortable to wear and use due to its large sizing. The inside strap provides some minimal semblance of stability as it is still oversized and does not provide a secure fit . . . or any fit for that matter. If I hold onto the strap itself, it improves the chance that the mitt remains on but, in turn, makes it uncomfortable to manipulate during use. I can manage using it for a few minutes during a simple massage, which they do seem to appreciate. Beyond this, it has no use unfortunately since I need to use other tools to be truly effective during grooming.

Great brush, ok fit
I like the brush on this mitt, tons of tiny bristles that have a good length to bust through fur. It’s a great size for horses and it covers a large area quickly. It is super flexible to mold to contours, and soft enough for knobby/boney areas. When used dry, the hair can be easily knocked out by tapping on the bottom of your shoe or another brush quickly, it doesn’t hang on to it. It also helps bring up dirt and dandruff embedded deep in the fur.The way the mitt fits is kind of difficult, my hand slides around on the inside as I scrub. It might be better if there were at least a loop or two for fingers to slide into and brace for the scrubbing action. I do really like the end result, just a little hard to hang on to.
