What are the Benefits of Shrimp Leaves?

Seemingly simple, Shrimp leaves are one of the most hardworking vegetation in your tank, providing a slew of benefits to your shrimp. They create the ideal surroundings for shrimp to thrive, breed and recuperate when sick. These food sources enhance shrimp’s color, balance your water’s pH level, and provide shelter and entertainment. You will start to notice your adult and baby shrimp interacting with these leaves the day they are introduced.

How do I use Shrimp leaves?

The Jor Giant Shrimp Catappa Leaves are incredibly easy to use. Always rinse before use, even after boiling or soaking. By the way, a “post-boil soak” in freshwater is a recommended step too. Depending on the size of your shrimp tank and the pH level needed, start by dropping a few leaves into your tank. You can always take away leaves or add more as per the requirement. If you have a variety of tanks, you can use whole leaves in larger tanks and tear the leaves into smaller pieces for one to five-gallon tanks.

Why is my water turning brown?

After a few days, you will notice your shrimp tank water turning light brown. This change is nothing but the creation of tropical-like surroundings required by shrimps. Its tea color appearance lowers pH levels and adds magical properties.

Raw Shrimp Leaves — For the most beneficial addition to your shrimp tank, the Jor Shrimp Leaves are an excellent choice. They vary in size with lengths of 4-7″ (10-18 cm). If you have a smaller or varying size tank, you can tear the larger leaves into smaller pieces. While products available in the market may or may not be authentic, the Giant catappa leaves are unprocessed.
Creates Breeding Ground For Shrimp — Several breeds of shrimp have habitats in mountain streams surrounded by overhanging trees and brush, making the area abundant in fallen leaves and plant debris. Adding Shrimp leaves to their tank imitates their original habitat and gives them the privacy to start a breeding habitat. A must-have for all shrimp breeders, these provide a secure shelter for adult shrimp and a convenient hiding spot for baby shrimp.
Miracle Leaves Keep Betta In An Optimal State — Fin rot, sometimes called fin melt or tail rot, is fairly common. It is caused by things that exist in your aquarium water. These undesirables start becoming a menace when your betta has a weak growth or when you are raising a vulnerable fry. You can keep your betta fish in optimal wellness by adding these phenomenal leaves.
A Delicious Treat For Your Shrimp — A few days after you place the shrimp leaves in the tank, they will slowly settle down to the bottom. As they settle, they soften, which shrimp love to graze on. Shrimps love this delicious treat and eat the leaves down to the skeleton. This food provides a balanced diet and improves your shrimp’s development.
Handpicked For Optimum Quality — If you pick the leaves outside, you cannot be sure of the quality they might have. The catappa leaves are ensured to be authentic. PREPARATION: Before placing the product in the aquarium, rinse before use, even after boiling or soaking. A “post-boil soak” in freshwater is a recommended step, too.

    Awesome
They made my tank critters extra happy! The pH and acidity have been perfect since I added the leaf, the only bummer is that it makes the water a bit brackish, which is what they love anyways. 🙂

I like the tannins from the leaves.
I have recently upgraded my fish tank and put these in as soon as I set it up. I really enjoy the slightly tea colored water created by the tannins in the leaves. I love the way they look in the tank and that it incorporates a natural aspect from the bettas original environment. I’ve had the tank set up about 8 days and checked the water last night and all my levels look good . I’ve also added two live plants to the tank.

    Good quality
Abit smaller then I wanted, but that was on me. Aside from that they worked just fine. Placed two in my betta tank and he’s been loving them.

    Waste of time and money
Doesn’t release tannins or lower pH, even though I put several of them in my aquarium and had them in it for over a month. Useless waste of money. I took them out and threw them away.

    So far so good
Well, I have received those leaves today. First, I hope they will help to improve the hard water issue I am having and also prep my fish tank for my shrimps on their way. I was a bit surprised by how big they were, but quickly came to the decision all I had to do was break them into smaller pieces. That looked quite natural anyway. I boiled them with some activated carbon for 10 minutes and rinsed them. They softened right away. Now they’re in my 20-gallon tank. They look quite interesting. The fish so far couldn’t care less. I wonder when my snails see them and what they’ll do. How it will affect the hardness of the water in time? I will see. As soon as I get my shrimp. I also will see. I will post more about how it goes.

    Not recommended
The package is not great to protect the leaf from breaking and also not all the leaf are same size. Some of them are smaller than the others and have a crake in the middle.

They have the most awful smell.
They smell like mold. I put them in my tank and it killed all the babies I had. Definitely wouldn’t recommend this seller or brand.

We have the same shrimp as seen on the packaging, but they must hate it, actually nobody in the tank likes it or wants anything to do with it.
