Great Product â My Tarantula Loves It!
Initially, I purchased the Excavatorâs Clay for my Australian Bearded Dragon enclosure. I was preparing to purchase an Australian Bearded Dragon, but I decided to hold off on the purchase; because, Iâm seldom home; Iâm an actor and travel a lot; hence, I used the Excavatorâs Clay for my tarantulaâs enclosure, and Arogog loves it!I have a Brachypelma Hamorii spiderling â he is about 2.5 years old and is about 2.2â DLS. His name is Arogog.I used coco-fibre, and he didnât seem to like it all that much; because, I noticed he spent most of his time climbing and hanging out on the walls of his enclosure â Arogog is a desert tarantula, and I donât recall seeing coco-fibre substrate in the desert; so, I used the Excavatorâs Clay thinking it better replicates the substrate thatâs more desert-like.The Excavatorâs Clay is easy to use and mold when the proper amount of water is applied.Arogog has a big enclosure; hence, I used the entire 20-pound bag. I ordered the 10-pound bag in case I wanted to create additional structures for him.The total drying time for my Arogogâs enclosure was about three to four weeks at an internal temperature of 70-degrees Fahrenheit and 20-pounds of Excavatorâs Clay.I used part of the Excavatorâs Clay without water, and it is like loose sand you might find at a desert.Another awesome feature of this product is that I can re-use it and re-shape it â just add the appropriate amount of water, and I can start from scratch.Arogog loves the Excavatorâs Clay. He made his own den by digging a burrow under the fake plant I put in his enclosure â he feels safe, and he goes out more frequently for his exploration walks at night and early morning. He definitely prefers the Excavatorâs Clay over the coco-fibre.Check 6!/s/ Alfonso Faustino

It’s not that hard…
I used cork tubes to build a base for tunnels and then coated it with clay wet till thick. I made some goopy wet and poured that to creat a smooth finish and covered with dessert sand. I then baked it under heat lamps until it hardened and cracked like a real dessert floor. I think if you let it dry at room temp it may not crack, but not sure. You can always fill in the cracks. Looks great and my lizard loves his new home.

Great product!
Adding this product to my bearded dragons tank has made the world of difference when it comes to looks, crest, and being comfortable for my little lizard. It took more sand than I thought to create what I needed but this is a great idea for any reptile pet lover!

Makes really cool structures!
Bought this to build a burrowing cave/bridge for my baby ornate uromastyx and itâs been awesome for him! Itâs held up extremely well over the past 6 months and itâs perfect for burrowing (he dug his own little tunnel off to the side of the big one I shaped with a cup) but wonât lose its shape. However, it can be very difficult and frustrating to work with at first. I spent hours and hours building a fairly simple structure; it may fall apart easily while youâre working (too much or too little water are bad things). But I am so happy with how it turned out and I will be building another cave for Froot Loop soon. I highly recommend this excavator clay, just donât give up on your building work!! And let it dry for at least 3-5 days depending on clay thickness (it shouldnât feel cold or soft) before allowing your lizard to check it out. Burrowing is a natural behavior for uros and beardies and this clay is the perfect way to invite and encourage it when it is thoroughly dry.

Still Good Stuff
I use this product for my tortoise habitat. I wanted some caves and mounds for him to get up to the correct distance from his basking light. Once you are familiar with the consistency of “mud” you need for the type of landscape you want to build it’s a piece of cake to sculpt exactly what you want. The hardest thing for me is keeping my tortoise off of a freshly made mound when I feel like changing things up or adding a new place for him to explore. Have never had a problem/difficulty cleaning existing builds, or rehydrating old segments to add on new pieces or completely start over. When this stuff dries it is solid and sturdy as long as you put enough support in the sides.

Amazing amazing amazing
I love this stuff. It is what makes the difference in my crawler track. Looks so good. Love it love it. Idk how it holds up to any kind of moisture but itâs amazing for my use.

Excavator clay is part of my best substrate mix. Why is it so hard to find?
I love this stuff I wish it was easy to find like that crappy calcium sand which is everywhere. Lots of uses for my herp homes. If you want an easy no maintenance substrate this so not for you though. I also mix it with sand and eco earth to make it more natural and diggable.

No regrets
This turned out great! I have a fifty five gallon tank and was able to do layer across the floor, and I created a cave with a solo cup that my lizard loves. Dried solid so I donât have to worry about her eating sand.

Works well and looks good. Add the water gradually to reduce the drying time

It gives me less than I though for the size of my terrarium, I should have bought 2 bags of it. But anyways I really likes how it looks in my terrarium. I recommend it.
