Works well for my snake cage
I have a 6 ft boa constrictor and I am in Los Angeles, so it gets about 40’s at night. Keeps snake warm, but higher wattage bulb (150 watts not 100) would have been optimal. Dome fits nicely on cage mesh slot, and bulb by same maker fits well inside. Runs 24/7 and had this for a month or more, no problems. Works very well. Snakey is very happy!

GREAT!
Positive:Great quality!Easy to turn on and off!Does what it needs to, shine a bulb on my turtles!Negative:It is not very well put together. It definitely won’t fall apart on you but you can shake the lamp and see the parts shake. If that makes sense. Everything is not tightly put together. But that is not an issue with me! It works fine and doesn’t break.

Great Lamp
After nearly 10 months I’m still using this Zoo Med lamp! It features a long cord and an on/off switch. The lamp does get kind of hot so keep it out of reach of children. You can choose whether you want to use it with or without the added clamp. I’ll be purchasing another one once I buy a bigger aquarium. Since this lamp does not come with a bulb, I suggest buying the “Exo Terra Swamp Glo Basking Spot Lamp” bulb for turtle owners.

Good product
I use this near my bird cage to provide him some extra warmth during winter. I am using a ceramic heat emitter. It is placed 5-6 inches away from the cage with a perch perpendicular to it. It helps my bird to move close or away from it depending on the warmth he needs. The instructions on the manual are not that clear. I need to look at the picture to assemble it correctly. But once you figure it out, it is easy. I have used both the 60w and 100w ceramic bulbs in it. When I use the 60 w bulb, the outer surface of the dome does not get hot but when I use the 100 w bulb, it does get hot but not burning hot. I make sure that it is turned of when my bird is out of his cage (just to be safe). The on/off switch is a very handy and convenient.

Accepts my 100W Infrared Backing bulb Nicely with a Slight Modification
I inherited a Russian tortoise recently. He was in a smaller terarium so we decided to upgrade to a larger. However the new one is 16 inches high versus the 12 inches. SO I needed a fixture that I could use that could accomodate a 100 W infra red bulb but also allow me to rest it on the mesh grating on the top of the cage. I also bought on Amazon the Exo Terra 100W Infra Red basking lamp to use with this as it measured slightly less in height than another manufactures bulb. The only problem was that even though the bulb was not as high it still touched the mesh (extended so slightly beyond the edge of the fixture). The solution was simply. On four corners I clipped “black binder clips” which raised it enough to clear the mesh. I then removed the two metal handles from the clips. This allows me to keep the bulb as close to the mesh without touching to get the maximum heating for the tortoise below.I do not use the clamp feature and removed the clamp because I do not need this. I highly recommend this lamp especially that it can accomodate 100W bulb safely.

Great Lamp…Great Company Zoo Med!
Much better heat lamp holder for my birds than just the generic rickety thing we must have gotten at a hardware store. Nice looking too….black. Nice that the control is on the cord near the top instead of the holder itself…always was hot to touch on the old cheap one we had. BIG PLUS…Zoo Med is a wonderful company! I didn’t know which size to buy…called their info number and got such great help…they even knew I wasn’t buying it from their website but from Amazon…didn’t make a difference…they just want you to do right by your critters! Will feel good about buying any of their products.

Here is my post I put on a hermit crab forum. It will make sense once you read it. Do not buy these lamps.
Here is my post I put on a hermit crab forum. It will make sense once you read it. Do not buy these lamps. I had only used them less that 18 months a piece.Ok so before you all hate me. I put my tank which is all set up perfectly upstairs in my daughters room. Its huge and has 2 Zoo Med Deluxe Porcelain Clamp Lamp with 5.5-Inch Dome lights. Worked fine for 2 years. Well today i plugged it back in and noticed one lamp was not getting hot. So i flipped the switch on the wire thinking it was turned off. But I really had turned it off by doing that. 5 hours later I go back and the lamp is still cold. I flip the switch again and this time i hear a buzz. Then flip it off/on again and hear it again a slight sizzle. I wiggle the wires and BAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sparks, flash, zap and pop. Black smore and electric flying. I yank the plug. Its like the plastic wire that comes out of the top of the light was melted somewhere in the ceramic base. Needless to say I love my crabs but I love my house, wife and 2 infants more. I cant trust to keep them plugged in. Im too afraid. Anyone on Long Island, NY want free crabs? If no one adopts, what are the options I have? The freezer? Ive loved them for ages but this has taught me to never have a heat lamp in my house ever again.

Very helpful for our tortoise habitat.
We keep our tortoise outdoors in an enclosed habitat. Living in Phoenix, it rarely dips below 45 degrees, but on the nights that it does, we break out this Zoo Med lamp and attach it to the “burrow” enclosure where our tortoise hides. We keep the lamp under an enclosure so it is not exposed to any rain (again, we live in the desert, so this is almost never an issue) and about 10-12 inches away from the tortoise. Using a 60 watt bulb over the small 12×12 burrow brings the temp up enough to keep him comfortable as night falls. We had originally used a less expensive “shop lamp” from a large retailer, but continually had issues with the bulbs. This porcelain outlet is worth the investment.

This lamp works well I used it in my leopard geckos tank with a heat bulb and it works fine the bulb i got is too long so I have to hang it with the clip and it holds up well

Love this item. Keeps our beardie warm at night. Great quality so far just super hot to touch. Have to lift it by the cord.

I have only started using this unit so I cannot comment on it longterm robustness but looking at it, it seems well built. The light socket is all ceramic which is needed for a heat lamp and makes me think that it will hold up over time. The clamp that is provided with it is not the best and it will work with a straight sided aquarium but any lip forces it to tip in and you cannot lower it down the side due to the design of the clamp. So the lamp looks well made and robust but the clamp is why I did not give it 5 stars.
