The King” of All Reptile Hoods. The Slider Reptile Hood accommodates spot or flood bulbs and Ceramic Heat Emitters in its vertically mounted sockets. Each hood has two or three incandescent sockets rated up to 150 watts each as well as a fluorescent fixture for a UVB emitting lamp. The black powder-coated steel hoods are 12″ wide and are available for terrariums 24″ 30″ 36″ and 48″ in length. Each socket/fixture has its own rocker switch for independent light selection. Other features include an aluminum reflector for increased UVB penetration and an internally grounded receptacle for rock heaters waterfalls or other in-tank accessories.”

Am very disappointed in Zoom Med and unhappy there is no recourse
The middle light rocker switch blew apart on the hood purchased 5/19/14. This is the replacement for the 1st hood. That hood had defective light sockets. Am very disappointed in Zoom Med and unhappy there is no recourse.

very good reptile enclosure cover
I picked the 24″ hood up because I have the 36″ on another tank and I really like it. Having multiple bulb and power control options is great for creating accurate and healthy day/night cycles for my reptiles. Unlike most other hoods, the basking bulb sockets are vertical, so focused bulbs utilize 100% of their light.I have only 2 complaints;1. The instructions are terrible. There are no directions regarding the power cords and switches. You have to do some trial and error to figure them out, but it’s not too difficult. There is nothing telling you how to remove the interior screen to install/replace the UV bulb. (You need to remove 2 tiny screws) I almost broke my first hood trying to figure this out. The instructions for the slider mechanism are useless. I could never get it to work.2. I wish there was a hinge to open. Since the slider mechanism does not work well at all, I simply rest the lid on the top of the tank and push it back when I want access to the inside. A redesign of the sliding mechanism or a hinged portion of the lid would send this to 5 stars for sure.
