From the Streets of Bolivia to a Forever Home in Tennessee, One Dog’s Journey of Love and Loyalty

While traveling through Bolivia with friends, Krista had no idea her heart was about to be stolen by a scrappy street dog. The pup, later named Chase, seemed to choose her from the start. He appeared out of nowhere and began to follow their group, weaving through the bustling streets as if determined not to be left behind. When Krista and her friends got into their car, Chase literally gave chase—running five blocks, dodging traffic with a determination that touched everyone watching.

Realizing this was more than just coincidence, Krista made a decision that would change both of their lives. She opened the car door—and her heart—to Chase. From that moment on, he was part of their journey. He slept near them, followed them from town to town, and showered them with loyalty. But as their trip neared its end, Krista faced an emotional dilemma: she had to return to Tennessee, but how could she possibly leave Chase behind?

She found a local Bolivian dog rescue willing to help with the complex process of bringing Chase to the United States. The paperwork, vet visits, and blood tests took months to complete. While Krista returned home, Chase stayed with a foster family, waiting patiently.

Then came the reunion. When Krista flew back to Bolivia to get him, Chase recognized her instantly. His tail wagged furiously as he jumped into her arms with joy. Their journey home was long—first to Miami, then a road trip to Tennessee—but Chase took it all in stride. They hiked, walked, and bonded every step of the way.

Arriving in Tennessee, Chase embraced his new life immediately. He ran through wide-open fields, sniffed every corner of his new yard, and finally had a soft place to sleep each night. What began as a chance meeting in a foreign country turned into a lifelong friendship.

Krista says she plans to take Chase on many more adventures, but no matter where they go, one thing is certain: they’ll go together.
